Hi i have same unit. If you keep the volume anywhere below 31 the fan is not intrusive (you can hear a quiet hum but not a bother) I also give it plent of ventilation ie 1 foot at back and a little less to the sides. The problem is the unit is so slim the fan has to work harder to dissipate the heat build up.

Hello,

The problem very likely may be dirt. Dust and dirt accumulate in the air passages and heat sinks in laptops often causing them to overheat. You say that the laptop was serviced by a technician recently.
He should have cleaned it's cooling system but he may not have. I have found that if the machine is not completely dismantled the dust and dirt blocking the free flow of air may not be visible.

Another possibility is that your cooling fans are waring out. These can be replaced. Also you can purchase high performance fans that are quieter, more efficient and last longed than the standard fans that laptops are supplied with.

Being as you have so much invested in this machine it makes sense to check to see if you have these issues.

Hope that helps.

Hi there,

Try opening the chassis and clean the inside of the pc. You can use a blower to remove dusts inside the pc. Usually this is the culprit. Excessive dust will make your cooling system ineffective so the fan will run very fast to cool it down. If your pc is clean, check if there are wires touching the blades of the fan. Also check if there are broken blades in the fan. If everything is fine and still fan is noisy, you have to replace it.

I have a problem on fan can you solve? It's a noisy fan

Most of the problems with cooling fans in equipment is due to loss of lubrication. What anybody would do in this case is take out the cover of the receiver and replace the noisy fan, or, in case you are able to do so, repair the fan.
In fans with ball bearings, you can do nothing but disasembling the fan and replace the tiny BB, in fans with sleeves bearings, you may disassemble it, clean it well, and put some oil or light grease in it before reasembling it.

The fan that comes with this is extremely noisy. Regular P4 heat sinks have a different footprint so they do not fit. How would I get a quieter cooler that fits?

Search the internet for a cooler for that model motherboard, or a cooling fan designed for that motherboard that can provide add'l cooling for your system.

The fan is horribly loud on an HP Pavilion dv6449us laptop and the drivers are up to date. How do I replace the fan?

First attempt to clean out the fan with some compressed air and clean the fan intakes as well as clean the exhaust areas.

Dell XPS 210 very noisy what can I do to quiet it

Hi, The noise from any computer is due to the fan. It is really the only thing that makes noise on a computer - unless you havce a bad drive. If you can hear a drive outside of the case, then it's about to fail. You can buy a quieter fan for your laptop. That will take a bit of investigation on your part, as far as getting the dimensions and wattage of the fan from your manufacturer's web site or the instruction manual that came with your computer. You would do best to go to a reliable and competent computer shop and have a quieter fan installed, rather than doing it yourself if possible. This mod is very simple, and can make your computer run better, provided you get a better fan that can cool your machine better.

Noise

That noise is due to your Power-Supply-Unit, Hard-Drive, Optical Drives, other spinning devices, and ventilation fans. You can reduce some of it but not all of it.

For example, your hard-drive could be rather old and producing a lot of noise when it spins up, reads, or writes data. You could replace it with a newer hard-drive which barely makes any noise. The same with your Power Supply Unit (PSU). It could be old and rather noisy. You could buy yourself a newer one such as the ones made by PC Power & Cooling which gets you a quieter product. However that's about it as you DO NOT want to reduce the amount of fans in your system.

Sorry if this was not the solution you were after. However most noise from a computer stems from ventilation fans which can be replaced but should not be removed.
