I have the exact same problem! I bought the dishwasher about 2 years ago (ultrawash quiet guard premium) and it ran very quietly until about a month ago. I tried decalcifying it but no luck. It's soooo loud. Can anyone help?

Same deal, I suspect the motor bearing but will have to investigate. Anyone have a clue out there? How about Kenmore? Any advisories?

I have the same problem. I took apart the dishwasher last night and was able to get to the food chopper. I removed it and it didn't look like it was clogging. I put everything back together and ran it without dishes and seemed a little quieter, but no where near normal sounding. Today my wife ran it with dishes and says the noise is back. It's defining. We use to be able to carry a conversation while in the kitchen, now we can barely carry one if we're in the next room! It's suppose to be an "Ultra Quiet" model! Yeah right! I called Sears and it's past the 1 years warranty, so they won't do anything for me. I'm waiting to see if this is a recall issue but have yet to see my model listed. I'm going to take the motor off from behind the dishwasher tonight and see if there's water getting to the bearings as other sites have suggested.

We are having the same problem with our Kenmore Elite Ultra Quiet dishwasher. After two years of use, out of nowhere, our dishwasher got much, much louder. It is unbearable compared to what it used to sound like. The dishwasher still cleans but the noise is terrible. We have had nothing but trouble with Kenmore Elite appliances. We had major problems with our refrigerator, stove, and now our dishwasher. We are done with Sears Kenmore appliances. I suspect many of the parts are manufactured in China (which are junk). It will be hard to find someone who produces a top of the line dishwasher that isn't made from parts that were made in China. We are looking into Bosch, Kitchenaid, or Fridgidaire. Nonetheless we are dropping Sears Kenmore Elite appliances for good.

I had the same problem with by Kemore Ultrawash after two years. The motor bearing went bad because the seal went out and dish water got to the bearing. If you are handy, this motor comes out after taking the dishwasher out. I was surprised how easily the motor came apart from the dishwasher, a good design. The motor has three screws that holds it together, I took them out and took the motor apart.
I took the old beaing off the shaft with a grinder, careful not to groove the motor shaft. I did, but just put some high temp silicone caulk in the groove before I put the new bearing on the shaft. I bought a new bearing on the internet, it is a 22mm x 8mm x 7mm. I bought one that went in a small engine, a quality one. I placed it on the shaft, put the motor back together and put the dishwasher back together. It has run quiet and great for many weeks now. I expect the dishwasher may last many years now, because the bearing I took out was a cheap aftermarket one, and the new one is vastly superior in quality.

Good luck and fire away with any questions. I love this dishwasher and am glad I could fix it for 19$ and some of my time.

Several sites on the Internet suggest doing some basic disassembly on the inside bottom of the dishwasher to locate and remove fragments that may be interfering with the cutter blade of the built-in chopper. Much like a garbage disposal, most dishwashers chops up larger waste particles to be able to flush them down the drain.

I have a 2-year old Kenmore and followed these directions to locate and remove a tooth pick as well as some plastic/alumimum fragment of a medicine pill tablet. Unfortunately in my case this did not resolve the noise issue. Having found these 2 fragments I didn't investigate further and reassembled the 4-5 pieces I removed. All together it took me about 20 minutes to do this. I am leery to call-in a service professional as the dishwasher is working, albeit a noisy.

I have the same problem as those who stated their dishes are not getting clean. If you listen to the wash cycle you should hear water sloshing around inside. If you hear just a humming sound the washer has no water. I have this problem. I had a tech come and he told me the water is syphoning out my drain and I need to change my plumbing, then he charged me $65. I have lived in this house for ten years. 6 with the washer that came with house and 4 with this Kenmore Elite. This problem started about 6 months ago. So what I have been doing is opening the door, after the humming starts and the sloshing stops, and adding about 2 L of water. It seems to wash just fine after that.

Our Frigidaire Ultra Quiet II dishwasher loud buzzing noise- wash

No longer "ultra quiet" huh?

A sound during certain cycles indicates a broken part. By the information provided sounds like a pump may be the problem. You may need to contact a service tech about this issue. If the appliance still under warranty, the service should be provided for free.

Every time when you hear noises (other than the normal ones) in the appliance, it indicates there is something wrong and it will worsen over time, so as soon you hear something is not ok, get assistance.

Loud Buzzing Sound from Dishwasher

have you ever seen green led "Clean" light flashing? before or about the same time the buzzing sound started? and if so that would indicate that the control senses a fault in the temperature rise during the heating cycle and that the electronic control could be reset by initiating a service diagnostic cycle.(which is what you were trying to do) pls reread your manual there are times during that sequence that some buttons have to be pushed at the same time and within a certain amount of time..possible that your machine also has a bad timer which would give you a buzzing noise..if thats the case I would recommend replacing the cpu or control board..or the machin all together..The Kenmore Ultra Wash Quiet Guard name is sears but whirpool has the contract to produce all "kenmore products.hope that helps.

Kenmore portable dishwasher not working

is the buzz sound when you ask it to drain or ask it to fill with water? or is the buzz sound when it is trying to wash? IF it is when you ask it to drain either you have something stuck in your air gap causeing no drain or there is something in your pump I would check the easy stuff first by checking the air gap this is if it is buzzing when you ask it to drain. let me know what is the senario.

Makes a loud buzzing sound when washing

This buzzing sound can be from a couple things. A lose a lose kick/access panel when the motor and pump is in operation can cause a slight vibrating noise. Try tightening securing the dishwasher and kick/access panel.

Second, (most likely) their can be an obstruction or debris in the water pump. You may see a plastic grid (4" x 6"; filter like) in the right rear of your dishwasher; Try removing the grid (1 or 2 screws 1/4"/cross tip), then use a dry-vac to remove any debris. *

Safety: As a beginning, please remember to perform the repairs with the power-off and ensure you have water in the dishwasher before restarting the water pump cycle (the water-pump can become damaged while dry-spinning and water enters the pump suddenly)

Kenmore Elite ultra wash dishwasher

When it is off, reach down around the base of the spray assy and run your fingers around the entire circular base where junk can get caught. I've found broken glass and plastic utensils. Why do some of us wash disposable utensils? Huh? You may find something like a piece of plastic, glass, or the like that is making the noise. Be careful not to cut yourself.

If this buzzying sound is not coming from the tub, and is actually below the tub and in front right side, it is most likely the electrical relay switch ( which can make that sound when it is straining or failing).
