Question about IBM 4610 TG4 Thermal Label Printer

1 Answer

IBM 4610 TG4 offline.

I'm using IBM OPOS configuration utility to configure and test an IBM 4610 TG4 printer. It either says it's offline or slowly prints trash from the test. I set it at 9600 baud and DTR/DSR on com 1.

A different printer worked fine. Apparently I fried the printer by unplugging the power and plugging it back in while the SurePOS 300 was powered up. It seemed to unlock some printer issues and it was faster than shutting the cash register completely off but after doing it multiple times I must have damaged electronics in the printer. When I received the second printer I read my first copy of the instructions for the cable. It said "Make sure the power is OFF". Then I realized what a murderer I am. Thanks for your help.

I have a releated issue which im hoping to get a little clarity on. I recently replaced a 4610 on a Surepos 300 and everything detects and printing. However the line spacing is double spaced. Im not a computer person but pc savy. Where in the POS enviorment can i change these settings. Any direction would be greatly appreciated.

i was thinking of using this utility via memory stick on my next visit to client but dont have anywhere to test prior.

If it printing trash more than likely you have a driver problem, where are you getting the driver for your printer?

try to look for another driver and test by going to ibm's website:

good luck!

Error 0x000000aa during port configuration of a printer

Hi. First you have to check "Use printer offline" for that particular printer then you have to stop the Print Spooler Service then start it again and only now you may configure the port configuration for that particular printer. After you do that uncheck "Use printer offline" and voila: it works. Good luck

Problem printing with IBM 4610 TF6

It can be a connection problem, since the printer and the computer are not communicating, probably the cable is bad, so if you have a different cable that we can try that will be better so we can check if its only a cable problem ...

Hope that helps......

Wont print on line

You may need to have some driver installed on your PC, that can be downloaded from some IBM printer web site, such as this one:

http://www.infoprintsolutionscompany.com/internet/wwsites.nsf/vwWebPublished/supportdownloads_ww

IBM does not manufacture printers any more, they outsourced that to other places like Lexmark & ProPrinter, so we have to figure out which outsource place is relevant & what name they have for whatever corresponds to 6400 driver.

IBM 4610 TG4

Jacsmar,

The 4610 has several common routines. One of these common routines is CR.BUFFER.GUILOTINE This routine buffers the guillotine cuts written to the receipt station.  I believe you need to be sure that this routine is inserted in the printing program in order for the guilllotine mechanism to cut.

The routine should have the following defination:
SUB CR.BUFFER.GUILLOTINE PUBLIC  The other routine is:
DO.GUILLOTINE.CUT

Also simply listen to hear if the knife mechanism is trying to activate after printing a receipt.

Hope this helps,

G. Kiely
