Problem with GE Refrigerators

pss26lg freezer is -20 in the bottom amd +20 in the top, the fridge side is freezing at the bottom amd 37 at the top, the fan is not running, if unplugged and allowed to sit for a few minutes

the fan will run normally and temps will even out top and bottom until it cycles off, any ideas what may be the problem?

Best Solution

replace the main board or the fan motor. after you replace one if the problem persists then you have to replace the other. then fan is DC on this model. if it is not telling the board it is running at full speed then the motor is bad. if the board is not putting out the proper voltage then the board is bad. it is a toss up unless you can read diagrams and test the proper wire at the main board. or call for service

WHITEWESTERN HOUSE MODEL MRT 18FNEWO.........TRY TO ADJUST THE THERMOSTAT OR REPLACE THE OLD ONE WITH A NEW GOOD ONE.

Wow, so you dropped some money into it, eh? I would take a look at the damper door asslb(DIFFUSER). located at the very top left of your refrigerator section in back. It has a motorized door that opens and close's and it may be stuck open. More than likely it is broken and needs to be replaced. GOODLUCK!!!!

FYI: All your cold air in your refrigerator comes from your freezer!
