If you are having problem whit your scanner/printer, do the following:
1) Uninstall the printer,
2) Delete all the printer folders created during the last installation.
3) In the computer registry (start >> run >> regedit.exe) Delete all printer paths
4) Reboot your computer
5) Re-install the printer again.
This will fix your problem.

How can I scan my documents?

It depends a bit on the OS and software you have installed and the connection. First, do you have the full software installed, if available for your OS? If you installed a generic OS driver, you should uninstall it and unplug the data cable until after the full software install requests it. Get the software here: http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareCategory?lc=en&dlc=en&cc=us&product=60259& and select your OS. (Newer Windows versions (like Win7) only use the driver in the OS; plug in the USB cable and let Windows Update find the driver.)

Put the document face down on the glass of the scanner or face up in an Automatic Document Feeder (ADF). Make sure the transport lock is unlocked on scanners with that feature.

If you have the full software installed, then start scans, at first, by launching the software (Start > All Programs > HP > HP Director or double-clicking the icon on the desktop). Then set the scan settings (Settings > Scan Settings and Preferences) - this is where you set the default destination and resolution, among other settings. You will see one setting for Button Settings. Once the button settings are set, if the monitor program is running, you will be able to launch scans from the buttons on the all-in-one. Click on Scan Picture or Scan Document depending on the item to be scanned. Adjust any settings and then press Scan. Check the preview if it comes up and then click Accept.

If the full software is not installed or you do not wish to use that software, you can use programs that are already in Windows or a third-party software. Windows XP, Vista and Win7 all include Paint, Start > All Programs > Accessories > Paint, which can acquire scans. Select File > Import from Camera or Scanner > Import from Scanner and then you will be able to scan. Vista and Win7 also include Windows Fax and Scan (Start > All Programs > Windows Fax and Scan). Click New Scan. The Windows Photo Gallery was preinstalled on Vista and is available as a download for Win 7 and can also acquire scans.

If you have problems scanning, try a new USB cable or a different port. If you are using a USB hub or print server, use a direct connection. (Print servers usually don't work for scanners). Scanners require bi-directional communication with the scanner and can fail even if the printer works.

I hope this helps.

I have an hp psc 1210, I have managed to figure out how to print from my comp, but how do I scan things to my computer

Scanning depends on a few things (OS, drivers). Did you install the full-featured software or the generic driver from the OS? (See the HP support site: http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareCategory?lc=en&dlc=en&cc=us&product=90764& for drivers/software.) If you have installed the generic driver and a full software package is available, uninstall the driver, unplug the all-in-one from the computer and install the full software. Then reconnect the data cable.

Place the document to be scanned face down on the glass. (Document feeders need the document face up with the top edge entering the feed first.)

Depending on the setup, you can launch the software from your computer. Double-click on the icon on the desktop or (in Windows) Start > All Programs > HP folder and then click on the HP Director. (Once this software is set up for the scan destinations, if the monitor program is running, you'll be able to press the scanner button on the all-in-one to launch the scan. This is under Settings) Once the program is running, click Scan Picture or Scan Document depending on the item to be scanned. Adjust resolution and other settings as needed - try the default first. Click Scan. If doing a preview scan then click Accept when satisfied with the settings.

If you do not have the full software available for your OS or simply do not want to use that software, you have some alternatives. Windows XP, Vista and 7 all can acquire scans in Paint. (Open the program, then File > From Scanner or Camera) Some versions of Vista and Win7 included Windows Fax and Scan which also acquires the scans (just click New scan). Vista has another program that can acquire scans (Photo Gallery IIRC). Macs may have similar software available. In both cases, third-party software is also available.

If your computer doesn't see the scanner, check the cables. Scanners require bi-directional communication with the computer so a cable that allows printing can be a problem with the scanner. Try a new cable or plugging in to a different port. If you have a USB hub or print server, try a direct connection.

I hope this helps.

Second hand hp psc 1610xi all in one printer can't get it to work

The drivers likely installed where basic drivers that allows some communication between the computer and printer, but it does not guarantee functionality. I would very highly recommend getting the latest driver from HPs website:

http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareCategory?product=390315&dlc=en&lc=en&cc=us

Select your operating system and download either the basic driver to get it working, or the full featured driver for all the additional software.

HP PSC 2355 all-in-one printer not scanning

You need to start the HP software that's installed on your PC.

In Win XP, go to Start menu, look down the list of installed programs, and click on HP Director to start it up. Your scanner should work now, either from the scan buttons on the printer, or from the scan options within HP Director.

HPSC1610 all in one

Hi,

Im very sure that you encountered that message when trying to scaning using the HP Director / HP solution center. Here are the steps that i want you to do inorder to solve the issue.

1. Insert the CD that you used to install the Software.
2. The Window for installation will pop-up, CLICK ON UNINSTALL. (note: make sure that you unplug the usb cable from the back of your computer before uninstalling the SOftware).
3. When done, restart your computer.
4. Re-insert the CD and Click on INSTALL.

The reason why you encounter such problem might have something to do with the corrupted components of the Software installed in your pc.

Thank you so much.
