You have two choices, either you install Windows from a generic Windows install CD, then you download and install all drivers from HP website here:
HP Support & Drivers
Or you contact HP and purchase a recovery disk here:

The Geek Squad wants to replace my hard drive and reload Windows because they say it is infected with a virus and my warrenty won't cover that.

You don't have to replace the hard drive if it still works. You can reformat it by doing a clean install of windows. It's relatively easy. Just go to your cmos, tell your computer to boot from cd, put your windows cd in your drive. Boot to the windows install cd and follow the instructions and answer the questions on the screen. Good luck and let me know if you need anything else.

How to Clean Computer from Viruses

Sometimes your computer might get to the point that you won't be able to do anything on it because it's infected with viruses and trojans. This is one of the worst infections you can get and you need to follow these steps in order to get rid of the infected files.

1. Download Hiren's Boot CD from a different computer if your doesn't work http://www.hirensbootcd.org/download/Hirens.BootCD.12.0.zip

2. Burn it on a CD and then put the CD into the computer full with viruses

3. Boot from CD when prompted and from the CD menu select Mini XP which will load a mini copy of Windows XP onto your machine

4. After Windows has loaded, go to Hiren's Boot CD menu and from menu select Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware

5. Once Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware is loaded, run a clean on your computer. This will temporary and hopefully forever will remove some of the trojans and the rogue antivirus

6. When the scan is finished click to remove the infected files and restart your computer. Don't forget to take out the CD

7. From the other computer download a FREE antivirus Microsoft Security Essentials from this link http://www.microsoft.com/security_essentials/

8. Install it on the infected machine. Upon restart you will be able to do this, although the computer may be still infected. After installation of Microsoft Security Essentials, run a full computer scan to clean any infected files that weren't already removed
My pc keeps restarting over and over but I don't have restore disc

Hello!

There are a lot of factors why your PC is acting that way, it could be a virus infection, hardware or software problems.

Virus Infection
- if your computer is infected or the virus behavior or capability is to keep restarting your system or PC. This could be the solution, you can install a decent virus scanner and update it always to be able to detect viruses.

Software Problem
- If your Operating System is behaving badly or some system files is missing, this can cause your PC to always restarts. To fix this is to reformat your hard drive and install OS again.

Hardware Problem
- If your RAM or one of the memory installed in your PC is defective it can cause restarting also, try cleaning your RAM's or swap other RAM to be able to determine the problem.

Hope I was able to help.

Acer Desk Top-DVD/RW-No Function,Virus in system,antivirus to be loaded.Data Backup & Formatting,reloading all software.

Your PC is virus infected. Although you can install anti virus and run update for your protection but still the antivirus software can't be installed. Since pop up notice tells you to back up files for reformatting, then you need to transfer all data to drive D. If your formatting is on drive C, your files on the other drive willnot be deleted as long as you have to reformat the drive for your OS,.
Install first antivirus after the formatting and update your virus protector. After that you can transfer and install some of components in your system.
Most of the times viruses destroys your CD ROM drive and other systems.
Hope this will help you.
Enjoy.

How to remove virus from your computer

Prevention is much easier and simpler than removal - especially in light of some of the more recent viri that have been developed. If you are not particularly computer savvy, I suggest sending / taking the unit to someone who can scan the computer for you, remove the infection and install some anti-virus software to reduce the likelihood of further infections. Let me know if you don't have someone you can hire to do this for you.

How to rid my computer of viruses

Use any Anti-virus scanner.
To start with you can use any trialware version of prominent anti-virus companies, like
norton
mcafee
bit defender
avg

you can try download.com to find free and trial based anti-virus programs.

Updating your virus scanner definitions regularly would minimize chances of getting infected again if your virus scanner is good.

MEDION AKOYA P 7300 D problems

hi azorin,

nice gaming PC you got yourself there.

It may sound weird but I would recommend to install Win XP Pro
instead of Vista, when you have the right to do so(Original CD!)
This might rid you of some errors and slow downs.

Concerning Vista and probale virus infection:

I dunno what you have caught, but some viruses tend to infect even the Master boot record and backcopy into clean systems, so when setting up a new system, just use clean CDs, before installing any other devices than the most necessary, do get an anti-virus (like A-squared, Avira or such) software on CD and scan without accessing the web.
Then see if you still have these problems coming.

For further assistance do not hesitate to come back to fixya.

Good luck!
