Speed Dialing I'm trying to setup one-touch dialing but it seems impossible even with the manual in hand. According to the manual I hit program and then dial the number, hit auto dial, and hit program. First of all after I hit program, it displays PITS-PGM NO? After that I try to dial the number and it beeps constantly unless I hit program again or one of the co-buttons. Now to my understanding if it displays PITS-PGM NO? I'm supposed to hit a key on the number pad. How am I supposed to know this if it doesn't even say in the manual? Does anyone know where I can find a layout of the different options?

If I press Program and then hit 13, it beeps 3 times and does nothing.

Hi Evygal,

There is nothing to worry about it because this phone supports a speed dialing feature , which means that you can program the numbers in a way that just pressing them in a specific way usually for some more time than a usual press of a button will automatically enable the speed dial function and the phone will call the number that has been programmed on the digit.

A good idea to not face this problem is to quickly remove the finger off the button when you press it , because keeping it for long , just as long as one sec can enable this speed dialing feature.

Hope that helps ..:) Let me know in case you have any queries, would love to help you.

Group speed dial option is not lit up and will not let me click on it.....

http://www.brother-usa.com/Manuals/Default.aspx?WT.cg_n=Support&WT.cg_s=Manuals
Pages 5-1 thru 5-3 in the Users Guide cover One Touch, Speed Dial and Group Dialing (Broadcast Dialing). Apparently one touch and/or speed dialing need to be set up first. Hope this helps.

Hi zoaj,

More then likely you have the fax set up to USE A DIALING PREFIX.

Therefore it is automatically doing this, regardless of what you input.

Follow the proceedure below ( which comes directly from the users manual for your printer type ) to change this. Delete the " USE A DIALING PREFIX " information.

once that is done, it will no longer automatically add the prefix for you. :)

I have BOLDED the relevant information below that pertains to this.

Please take a moment to evaluate my solution. Your appropriate rating of my solution would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you,

Speed dialing

There are two types of speed dial and the programming varies with the system you have.

System speed dial is programmed from the operator or manager's phone or PC and they reside in system program 001.

Personal speed dial numbers reside in my system at location 10.
You can try PROG 10 and see what the display says.

The user manual has instructrions for programming personal speed dials.

This adjustment allows you to select tone (touch-tone) or pulse (rotary) mode dialing. The phone is pre-set for
touch-tone use. To set to tone or pulse dialing:
1. Press and hold the program button for two seconds. You will hear a beep.
2. Press the *tone button to select Tone Dialing or press #pause to select Pulse Dialing.
3. Press the program button again. You will hear a confirmation tone.

Pre-set dial numbers

Pick up the handset / handsfree button, hit the SET/SAVE key, punch in the entire phone number you wish to program to speed-dial, hit the SET/SAVE key again, hit the speed dial key you want to save to (0-9). To actually use the speed-dial key once set, you have to pick up the handset / handsfree, hit the AC key followed by your speed dial (0-9) I know this seems unusual and you have to do it relatively quick, but it's the only way that works properly on this phone unit. Cheers!
