Question about Nikon D40 Digital Camera with G-II 18-55mm Lens

1 Answer

Nikon d40 error

Everytime i turn on my camera, it says, "Connecting to PC" and will NOT do anything. I have taken the battery out, charged it, pushed every button there is and it continues to give me the message. I have also connected it to the computer using the cord, and clicked the "remove hardware safely from computer" and I still get the same message when I turn the camera back on. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

same problem i am having. any way to fix it?

  • staceybailey Oct 27, 2008

I just googled the problem and several people have the same camera with the same problem on I've tried every suggestion listed to no avail. ONE person said the Image Control PCB is broken(whatever that is) and is replaceable. So I guess now I am going to find someone authorized to work on them or contact Nikon to send it in for repairs. LOVELY. I'm not real happy about this, especially since this seems to be a common problem with the software. I haven't been able to use my camera for awhile and now I've got to wait even LONGER on repairs so now I guess I'll have to go buy ANOTHER cheap camera to use until then. :) I just hate when mess like this happens. LIFE is ****. Haha!

same problem encountered here. nikon should do something about through technical support in the net for an easy fix.

I am so disappointed with this d40 problem, especially now that I know that it is not an isolated issue.

The only thing you can do is send it to Nikon for repair.

Hey climiocid,
If what you mean is your images don't display on the LCD screen after you take the picture your image review option has most likely been turned off. If your camera just never displays any images I would try doing a hard reset on the camera by shutting off the camera and opening the connecter cover and pressing the reset button which should reset the camera to factory specifications. When resetting the camera this way remember this resets the cameras' clock. If none of this works I would have the camera looked at by an authorized service technician. You can find an authorized service center by contacting the manufacturer, or you can always bring your camera to a Geek Squad® precinct in a Best Buy™ store and they can send it out for service. I hope this helps!

I recommend you getting a card reader, then you can download your images and don't wory about it detecting your camera. Its easier and quicker.

I have a olympus 7010 digital camera. everytime i try to turn the camera on, a orange light flashes and turns off. i've tried charging the battery numerous times.

The Olympus Stylus 7010 has a rechargeable lithium ion battery that will eventually wear out-- your battery could be at the point where it does not hold a charge any longer.
Have you previously noticed a degradation in battery life? If so, you can try replacing the battery or connecting the camera to a constant power source (like an AC adapter) to troubleshoot.
