My 3.5 years old Hitachi 50VS69 ULTRAVISION® LCD Projection HDTV has a 10 inch fuzzy area in the screen middle/center. There is also a circular hallow (bright light) effect around the 10 inch fuzzy area. Any idea regarding this problem source and what would be the estimated COST to repair??? Any idea???

no - it is slightly fuzzy only... the picture overall is generally clear, but you sure notice the 10 inch fuzzy circular area in the middle of the screen...

You Can try turning the tv off bye the power point for 1 hour and then after 1 hour switch back on.
i problem still exist its something to do with ether the convergence or even the picture enliment setting.

Thanks Aaron

I wouldn't advise a self repair if you do not have experience. There are dangerous voltages in a Tv that can kill!

The cause could also be some defective components (usually resistors or capacitors) on the convergence circuit that will need to be identified and replaced.

You could try a hard reset and see if the issue is resolved - Unplug power cord and all cables from TV. Wait about an hour and replug everything and see if it works. If it works, well and good. If not, I strongly suggest calling in the repair guy and getting it checked.

    Cheers!

It is either a problem with the color wheel , or something in the light tunnel.

There can be several reasons for this:

If the area is static, and it is black or dark , like liquid, then it is a problem with the LCD.

If the area looks like a bright light, then it is a problem with the color wheel.

If the area is a kind of fuzzy shadow in the middle of the screen , then it can be an object in the light tunnel. Typically this happens when one of the mirrors in the light tunnel get out of place , and stays in the middle of the light beam.

Problems with the anti polarization panel placed on top of the LCD can cause instead kind of mild color shadows, usually pink of blue, in this case the shadows appear after a while when you turn on tv, they are not static, and usually are pinkish or blue in color.

is the menu coming up the same. as it can tell you a lot if it is not. fuzzy screen in the middle could be the mirror has come away from the back or there is a build up of dust on the projector or projector light. it could also be one of the camber mirrors in side the projector has come loose or discolored. if the menu comes up ok then it is the avi board control chip as the projector is separated from the other boards and it gets its signal from this.

it need to demagnetize using a demagnetizer or permanent magnet (PM). move the PM to the center of the tv then rotate it ccw make a round small circle to bigger circle as you move the PM away from the screen. But do not put speaker near the tv. You can also switch off the tv for a night then turn on again this process will demanetize the screen automatically but be sure no speaker put near the tv. If this will not solve the problem. it might be the technician forgot to refix the degausing coil or Thermostat.
