Question about Refrigerators

1 Answer

I have a Rca Refrigerator...Freezer on top and fridge on lower half...I noticed a puddle of water a couple of months ago on the floor under the fridge on the linoleum floor..I mopped it up and this mornin', I noticed a puddle again..I do not see a place under the fridge where a tray might be to catch water. All I see are coils. Maybe you could give me some suggestions to check..Thanks, Idoj.

HI. thanks for your question. the problem is with a clogged drain tube, located under the freezer. and goes down to the drain pan. to repair. turn fridge off for at least 24 hrs. use a small plastic hose . go to the drain hose, by the drain pan. push small hose inside the drain tube, up as high as you can. now blow in the tube to clear. thanks the appliance doc. please rate my answer thanks.

Water collecting inside fridge, under meat drawer

Yes most responses are the freezer drain even if it is in the bottom freezer. If the drain is blocked water will build up anywhere inside your refrigerator only because it has no place to go during the defrost. Defective door seals can also can make the problem much worse. Samsung refrigerator leaves puddles of water on the floor

it may be level but the floor may be uneven. find the lowest corner of the fridge, where it is lower than the door. Put some coins under the foot at that corner, does it make the door more aligned?

GE Profile leaking onto floor

Clean the drain pan and drain line in the back of the freezer section behind the cover underneath the evaporator coil. (hint: use turkey baster with hot water) Make sure water drains when you pour it in. If it doesn't - also clean drain tube on the back of the unit behind the cover. When done - put the tube exactly where it was.
Good luck! :)

Hotpoint 18.2 cu ft refrigerator -water pooling on the floor

Was it the tubeing that drains the defrost water that you cleaned. Did you clean it at the top where it would be stopped up with ice. Your evaporator coils frost up in normal use and every eight hours or so the entire unit shuts down and the defrost heater comes on to melt the frost. This cycle last about 20 minutes. The melted frost drips into a drain pan and through a drain tube to the drain tray under the freezer/refrigerator where it's evaporated by the condenser fan.

Your drain tube may be stopped up with ice at the upper end because it drains too slow because it's stopped up at the lower end in the evaporator pan under the unit at the floor. It can get dust and mold in it. Once you get the ice out at the top a little pressure with a turkey baster will usually clear it out. Flushing it out with hot water and clorox may help.
Make sure it drains quick enough to prevent refreezing. . The drain should be located below the evaporator coils on the lower back of the freezer. If not

The fridge should be 40 degrees on lower but not 32 degrees of course.
