I have just installed one and the sound quality is really good except that I get random popping noises which renders it useless to me.
I have spoke to Tech support and they have suggested a few things all of which I have now tried lowering 'hardware acceleration and colour quality to 16 bits.
I did have an NVIDIA graphics card which they suggested may be the cause of the problem so I have now changed that for a Matrox Millennium G400 dual head. (fortunately borrowed as it hasn't worked'
I have tried increasing and decreasing buffer size 512 is the default setting giving a latency of 12. something ms.
I have a Pentium 4 - 3gig chip and an ASUS P4P800 motherboard. 1.5 gig of RAM.
Any suggestion would be welcome as I can't speak to them again until Tuesday.
I think I may have worked it out. I loaded up the song I am currently working on, which was created using a 16 bit soundcard, and I have changed the settings of the project to 24 bit. However this isn't the complete answer as if I change it back to 16 bit it still randomly pops and crackles.
If I start a brand new project it's fine at 16 or 24 bit. Can anyone explain what's going on, and can I continue to work on my current project using the new soundcard or do I need to start again??
Cheers
Martin
