Have a Emachines T3408 (gateway) it runs really slow doing everything, online, off line, whatever. It has Vista Ultimate sp2 32bit. My memory is 494MB RAM Page file 820MB used, 672 available. The Processor...

yeah your system doesnt meet system requirement for running windows Vista Premium. Minimum memory required is 1GB.
Another system requirement is 128memory of graphic card with DirectX 9.0 capable and WDDM 1.0 driver support.
so if you dont have graphic card system will take amount of RAM..this why computer became slow.
If you have 'other components' you can take the RAM not HDD then install it..just make sure the RAM is supported by your current system..
I just recomend that would be better using Windows XP, with less RAM required..

P.S : see here for more detail about windows Vista.

I could not upgrade neither windows XP, Windows 7 of this Product Model: GT5662. Would you assits? Thanks.

Hello kelvinvu, according to the information that I gathered from this computer model, it has Windows Vista 32 bit home premium installed on it. Windows XP is an older operating system so you can't "upgrade" to it. You could however install a fresh copy (more likely completely erasing all your previous information on vista and data files) or you could upgrade to Windows 7. Since you are using "Windows Vista 32 bit home premium", you have to upgrade to "Windows 7 32 bit home premium" or better. So if you were trying to "upgrade" to Windows 7 Home Basic, it will not allow that since it considers that a downgrade in the Operating System. You should actually be able to pop in the Windows 7 Home Premium CD while vista is running and start the upgrade process pretty painlessly that way. Just access the CD and walk through the menus for upgrading Vista to Windows 7. As a reminder, you must use the 32 bit discs. If you try and use the 64 bit discs (a different operating system as far as windows is concerned) you will have to go through the same process of installing a new version of windows (not upgrade). I hope this has solved your specific problem kelvinvu, have a great day!

Whenever anything is downloading to my computer my sound gets garbled. This especially happens when I am trying to view streaming video. The sound gets garbled and out of sync with the video which also...

You are basically driving your PC pedal to the metal, as video and audio are the two most bandwidth-intensive things to do with a PC. Couple that with the Internet connection, and the prerequisite virus scans, and the poor machine is about to throw a rod.

Having said that, your machine should be up to the task, it sounds as if your data stream is inconsistent, and you have some other processes interrupting your "flow".

Make sure you defrag your HDD, jumping around to find places to sore data can cause this also.

Make sure all of your system's drivers are up to date, especially video, audio, and NIC drivers, and consider the following,

You are on the 'net, so your anti virus app, if set to "on Access control", is checking everything coming into and going out of your box, creating delays and timing hiccups.

Try this, disconnect from the net, turn antivirus off, and watch a DVD. if you have no problems, then it is most likely your real-time data flow from the net crashing into your antivirus scanning everything. Second most likely is data "throttling" by your ISP, those schnooks sell more broadband than they can deliver, and so they use "packet-shaping" to slow everyone down a bit.

Perhaps you can change your antivirus to "on demand scanning" , and scan manually, instead of automatically, while watching streaming, then go back to "on access" when you are finished..

Perhaps better to download the video beforehand, scan it, then watch while disconnected from the het, and "on Access control" turned off.

Flashplayer stops and starts on gateway

How fast is your Internet connection?

Often, a "slow" connection cannot download fast-enough to support "streaming" from an online source.

Start playing the video, and press "pause", and wait one or two minutes. Then, press "play", and you should get a "smooth" playback.
