AKAI 27" Wide-Screen LCD TV,

AKAI 27" Wide-Screen LCD TV, Model #LCT2785TA The red stand-by light is on. When turning on the TV using the remote or the TV power button, the red light blinks and there is the normal turning on click sound, but the green light does not come on and the TV doesn't turn on. Any idea what the problem might be?

Over the last three weeks, we have unplugged the TV for periods as long as 4 days at a time, and have tried using a jumper across the positive and negative posts of the plug. As yet, no change. Any ideas?

I would like to see if there is another opinion on whether we can fix the TV ourselves before taking it to a repair shop. Please see original submission and extra comment on what we have done ourselves to try to fix the problem. Thank you.

There are 3 capacitors that become defective very often on this LCDs, causing not to work properly or not at all.
The location of the capacitors is in between HS4 and HS3, their values are 1000uF/16v but you can use 1000uF/25v at 105 degrees Celsius.
If you know how to solder, this might be a DIY always keeping in mind de danger of working with devices that hold an electric charge for days even after being unplug from the AC power.
I repair these power supplies, if you need further information.

The tv is in protect mode, try first unplugging power cord for one hour, and see if this solve the problem.

The TV does not turn on because there is an internal problem, like a short, a bad voltage, or more commonly a faulty component (IC , capacitor etc.).

When this happen, the main Chip inside your TV detects that there is a fault, and send the TV in protect mode, activating a safety switch that prevents TV from turning on. The switch keeps turning off the tv, and that is the clicking noise that you can hear.

Unless you have experience as a TV repair, try first keeping TV unplugged for one hour or more. This will reset TV circuts draining power completely, and sometimes can wake up the TV from protect mode.

If it does not work, that means that there is a defective component inside the TV. In this case I suggest calling the phone number listed on the user manual to get support from manufacturer.

Sorry to contaddict Jaime, but I repair LCD screen, for living I mean, and when power supply capacitors have blown, you do not get power in the whole unit, not even led on.

This TV is in standby mode because there is some other faulty component, and you do not know what it is until you test it, as the TV have about 3000 components.

AKAI 27 Model #LCT2785TA

The message you are seeing means that the tv is not receiving a signal from the source. Try hooking up a different source such as a DVD player or a Cable Box to that same input on the tv. If you have picture and sound then the problem is with the original source. If that does not work then you have a bad Main bd.

I need help tv lcd akai model lct2785ta

You do know that this model TV takes about 5-10 seconds to come on after you press the on button, right?

Press it once to get the green LED, then wait. If it doesn't display the blue AKAI splash screen within 15 seconds, the TV is not working as it should.

Also remember that this model has two RF input jacks. As seen from the back of the TV, the jack on the far right is the one to use for analog TV, analog cable, coax out to TV from a cable box, or rf out from a vcr.

Don't use the one on the far left. It is for input to the ATSC OTA DTV tuner only.

Most likely there is a real problem with your TV, but in the video, you are pressing the on/off button in rapid succession. That will never work with this model.
