I assume that you are using an AOL modem/router. if so, in order for you not to hardwire your laptop is you need to connect it wirelessly. but you need to make sure that your aol device has wireless capability as well as your laptop. i will not be able to provide you the step by step solution since i don't know the exact model of your devices, but all you need to do is locate the wireless icon/connection on your laptop (usually there's an icon for the wireless icon located at the task bar of your screen for windows computer but with mac, you need to make sure that the airport is on) and view the available networks. your laptop should be able to detect the wireless signal coming from your aol device and all you need to do is connect to it

hope this'll help you but if you need more information, just provide the exact model of your devices.

ciao!

Sounds like the router is not configured properly. I would follow the instructions that came with the router. There is a free program called Network Magic www.networkmagic.com that you can download and run free for 30 days. I have used this program to sortt out network related problems

Seems that you have a loose LCD screen cable connection. You will need to disassemble the laptop & make sure the LCD screen cable connection is tight.

How to share one utp connection into two

Hi,

for 10/100 connections you can do this (look on eBay for "Lan Splitter cable"). This is because for lower rate Ethernet there are spare pairs of wires in the cable. If you intend to run 1GBps then it needs all of the pairs in the cable and you will not be able to use the splitter.

The better solution would be to either use a switch in the room to break out the one cable you already have, or to run a parallel cable. As you may need extra LAN connections in the room in the future, the switch is generally the best method.

If this helps, please leave feedback - if not let me know and 'll try and help some more

I have Hp Compaq nx 6110 Laptop everything is ok boot system normal no any error but just laptop move any where then system stuck and only way of power off and second problem is "power surge on hub port: a...

1st prob. - I appears there is a loose connection problem somewhere - try reseating your RAN and hard disk.
Try to determine which part of the laptop is causing the problem, not moving the laptop around the room but by flexing different parts of the laptop and power cable etc. while it is on your table.

2nd prob -
Some USB devices draw more power than the USB port can provide and you get the error message - "exceeded power limit".
In these cases you will need to purchase a powered USB hub, connect this hub to the laptops USB port and connect the offending USB device into the powered USB hub.

Moving desktop across room where there is no cable connection.

you can buy a cheap USB wifi adapter and connect the desktop wirelessly just like your laptop, this should do the trick.
or you can buy an access point to extend the range of the wireless network, you should not be moving the router itself this way.

you will have to access the router by the ip address.
(192.168.??.??)once you log in, user name blank and password admin. you will have to set up wireless security. there are several ways and each that is selected has a brief tutorial.

Sometimes, people who are gamers or use Ipods, leave the router unsecure but limit the wireless access by mac address or by ip address so only those wireless devices gain access.

Keep loosing my wirless connection

Router setup page for a DLINK should be 192.168.0.1 Right click on the D and click on show available wireless networks. There maybe more than showing. If a neighbor has one or if you have another pc it might be trying to use rhe network card from that oc. Make sure that you click on DLINK for wireless connection. You just may see some other connections and find out that it's trying to use another connection.

When connected to internet via D link 524 router, laptop won't allow opening some web pages

Can you surf to websites via your wireless connection without a problem? Is it only web-based email that's giving you problems? It may be caused by a firewall that is blocking traffic on your wireless connection but not on your LAN-card. Are you using a security suite (McAfee, Norton, etc)? You might want to check those settings too. Finally, make sure that the IP-settings of your wireless card are the same of those of your LAN-card. Can you connect to your router via wireless, http://192.168.1.1? Check the various settings there too. G'luck.
