Question about HP Office Equipment & Supplies

2 Answers

I have a HP Laser Jet 4000N sitting here in my office that makes a noise like the gears need oiled or some ****. Happen to know what I could use to help get them doing? When pulling a page from Tray 2; the bottom roller doesn't push it through, and from looking at it, I'd say it's because the top roller isn't spinning the bottom well enough.

Thats true about the rollers, but the HP 4000 "groan" is common.

Remove the pickup roller from the paper tray. Right behind it on the same shaft is a TORQUE LIMITER. Go ahead and remove that. Now Replace the roller to EXACTLY where it was, you will find the detant position. (dont go too far as the tork limiter is not there now) Print a page.... Does the noise stop? If so all you need is a torque limiter, and you can even fix your own limiter. EASY.

This happens when the rubber on the roller is worn or has accumulated paper dust on it. The rubber is of a blue or grey color. Usually you can clean the gear with cotton swab and alcohol.
Also, there is a roller in the paper tray and a rubber pad that can be cleaned with alcohol.
If it is badly worn, you can order a replacement. There is a maintenance kit available which contains a fuser, transfer gear and up to six rollers. I keep one kit handy to keep my HP in top form.

Good luck,

My hp color laser jet 2600n printer making loud griding noise when yu power up & print. It prints OK just very noisey

It could be the roller gears. They're a relitavely cheap material and break pretty easy. We had a HP 2500 and we had the same problem; got an expert opinion and thats what he passed. It should be around $30 replacement plus expert fees. So with that being said, as long as it prints ok you're fine. Open it up and check to see if there are any visable factors causing this to happen. Keep an eye out for the next few days to see if anything gets too warm; unplug it if it is just to let it cool, plug it in again and if it happens again you may need to purchase a new one.

Good luck and please rate my solution accordingly.

Hp 4600 noise problem

when power on the main board do initial devices:
1) the cartridge include toner unit and photo drum unit
2) fuser unit and all paper road include motors and sensors through the paper road.
the noise at power on you may check:
1) the toner unit that maybe over life cycle to mak much more obstruction, you may take out the cartridge and turn the gears if felling very hard so need to change the cartridge.
2) the toner unit gears damage a little that could make noise, you may check all gears on the cartridge. attention other side drive gears.
3) check the fuser unit gears do same thing above.
hope you fix it and feedback the result thanks
