Fans and lights come on but the harddrive and cd bays do nothing

Hello,

I'm working on an Emachines T6524 I can get the lights to come on and the fans also but the harddrive and cd roms don't seem to be getting power, I have replaced the power supply cause originally it wasn't doing anything, I cleaned under the fan for the processor and got some juice but now I'm stumped as to what is going on with the hd, cd roms. Any help you can give is appreciated. thank you and have a great day

If you replaced the power supply did you plug it into the drives. If so then your motherboard is most likely faulty.

Remove the video card and connect the monitor to the onboard VGA. If the problem continues, check the power supply. If you have another with the same wattage rating, see if it works ok - it might be the power supply going out.

Sometimes the CD or DVD going bad will keep it from booting.
I'd disconnect them and try a boot. Just might work and you'll save yourself the cost of a new motherboard.
Another thing to try is swapping out memory.

Hello,

Is the system work using the old video card? if yes then, use it and then reconfigure the in the bios setup using the PCI video card. You can insert it simultaneously and then use first the old video in preparation for the configuration using the new PCI video card
