its important to find out whether the \'lines\' are in scan direction/ or only through Radf or only from scan glass,
if the lines are only showing when documents are fed throught the Radf, then the problem lies with the document scan plate( left of the main glass platen (about 2" in width)) or with the scan plate blade cleaner
if the lines ONLY appear when copying from the Glass then the issue lies within the optics (probably nothing more than a clean will be needed)
another question would be to ask if the lines are solid (black line overprinting image) or if they are \'missing\' lines where the image has failed to copy, sometimes it can be hard to work out which side the fault lies,so try shaded greys as a copy original .
if the scan lines are appearing on both Radf and Glassplatten ,mode then the issue may be dirty optics/ccd sensor or it could e an indication of the ccd failing or image control pwb in error while interpreting the image file.
what to do
1) place a grey sheet of paper in the Radf and have the copier photocopy both sides of the original and print to single sided sheets ( so the printer turns the original over to complete the task)
observe the result.
2) have the copier photocopy directly from the platten glass- single sided.
observe the result.
ckeck to see if the error has appeared on both sets of prints ,
if the error has only appeared in the first set of prints then the issue may be a tiny DOT on the slit glass (left of platten) - a dot on this glass will indeed appear as a Line as the original is scanned across the glass.
Scan a document in 300 dpi in full width. Check where the line appears in the image. For example if the black line appears at vertical position say 1900, then it means the dirt is at 1900/300 i.e., 6.3 inches from left. Clean the area thoroughly. Check if any pin had created a scratch in the glass. At different contrast levels, if the line appears different, it is definitely unclean glass. On the contrary, if the line appears constant at various levels of contrast, then it is possible that scan module is faulty.
Under CapturePerfect3, you can choose to deskew the scanned image while scanning itself. Also select 'Image only" radio button instead of 'Guide Plate'. The software will remove black borders around the image.

If when you copy or fax something and it has a black line running down the page, it is often caused by a dust, dirt spot or mark on the glass where it is being scanned. The easiest way to resolve this is by cleaning the feeder glass that reads it with a clean cloth.
It's possible that the black lines you're experiencing are an internal image adjustment issue with the scanner itself. If the scanner glass is otherwise clean, try going to the Canon DR2050/2080 utilities installed as part of the set up of your scanner and running the Adjustment Tool - it asks you to place the "adjustment paper" in the scanner. The term, "adjustment paper," appears to mean anything which has an image or text on it. Be sure you clean the scanner first before running this utility. It will have you put the "adjustment paper" through twice, and that in turn should remove the black lines in your scans, as long as there is no dust on the scanner glass. Office Depot sells cleaner sheets for laser and inkjet printers which also work on faxes and scanners and which will clean the glass for you.
Most Mustek scanners have a black inside cover on the lid, this can give a black line down the side of the job. ether cover the inside of the lid with white paper or place a bigger sheet on top of the sheet to be scanned!

More likely the printer- and an indicator that the waste ink tank is over full and needs servicing.
