I was watching the TV this morning and something went pop and the screen went to a weird muticolor view and it has a curved portion of the screen on the top and the bottom.

DVD drive section circuit fault. If you wish to get some details; check the site linked here. Viewing it in "Mosaic" or "Magazine" will make surf easy. Pull up older posts. Surf the site with patience. Do a search by type in the brand name of your device at its search box.

is this happened either watching a tv channel or even watching dvd movies?. and then does the display only white screen or a totally black screen?.

Hello Andrew, Could I get you to please post the model number and make of the set. I will be better able to assist you.

Please follow the steps given below and I am sure that your problem will be resolved.

1) Click on Start
2) Click on Control Panel
3) Click on Display
4) Click on Settings Tab
5) Increase the Screen Resolution
6) Select the Color Quality to 32 bit (Highest).

Press Apply.

If the screen resolution is correct press OK.

Hope that it would resolve the problem...

Hello check the cable box connections to see what type of connection you are using for television, if you are watching in HD then you might of changed the video input or source button was hit by mistake.

i also had the same problem but mine kept making a weird sound like a squeky mice or something...so i hit the back of my tv and it just appeared back to normal...try hitting it at the back but not extremely hard. Best of luck!

If you have a Sony DLP, then the loud pop you heard is your lamp.  The lamps last approx. 4K-6K viewing hours.  Read your manual for replacement part number to reorder and very simple to replace yourself.
