I have the same problem, but it's stuck in DVD-2 mode. Have tried both solutions listed here and remote stays stuck in DVD-2 mode, leaving my recorder inoperable. Help! Can't reset to default, DVD-3. Thanks!

  1. On your remote, push and hold "Enter"
  2. At the same time, push and hold "2"
  3. Keep them down for about 5 seconds
  4. Your remote should now work with the unit
  5. You can go to the set up menu and change the unit back to DVD3 if you wish, but you'll then need to repeat these steps using the "Enter" and "3" buttons

Thank you, MoJo! I had done that a hundred times before already and here is what made the difference....I had to change the DVD input setting on the *remote control* (lower right hand corner) to, in my case, DVD-2. It was set on the previous DVD-3. Once I clicked it over to DVD-2 (my remote was stuck on DVD-2) and did the Enter and 2 hold like you said, it worked!!! Yipppppeeeeeeeeeeeeee!!!!!!!!

Thank you Mojo!!!!! Very clear instructions. 1, 2, 3, 4, 5...

To the person whose machine is stuck on DVD-3, do what MoJo said to do for you (Enter+3), but first make sure your *remote* (lower right hand corner, under the pullback) is set on DVD-3. It should be the setting all the way to the right. This will work, trust.

Thank you Mojo!!! After MONTHS, my machine is back in working order! Merry Christmas!!! :D :D :D :D

SOURCE: Remote is Stuck in DVD 1 mode

I had this same problem: Recorder displaying "DVD 1" whenever I pressed any button on the remote. Called Sony Tech Support and this is what they told me to do: 1) Turn the unit on; 2) Press the Enter and the 1 keys on the remote at the same time for 5 seconds. (This I was told was to set the remote to DVD 1); 3) Press the System Menu key on the remote to bring up this menu up on the TV screen. (This takes a few seconds, so be patient.); 4) Access the Setup Page on the menu and set your unit via this way to DVD 3 if you want. (The Tech actually said I could leave it at DVD 1 if I wanted. I set mine back to DVD 3 - default.) I then performed auto-Set-up on my unit, and everything was back to normal. Hope this helps, otherwise I would recommend calling Sony Tech Support.

Display says it is stuck on dvd 2 cannot program the dvd recorder to record

Hi,
DVD recorder stuck on DVD 2 mode that means you can no longer operate it with its remote, right?
Now you need to change remote mode to DVD 2 so recorder can receive its signals.
Slide down lower cover of remote and set Command Mode switch to DVD 2 position, now your recorder will get remote signals and you can operate it properly.
Thanks.

When i press the remote all i get is DVD 3

Hi,
Your player has been set on remote mode 3, you need to change remote control itself on remote-3 so unit can get remote signals.
Set the command mode for the remote so it matches the command mode for the recorder.
Hold down ENTER.
While holding down ENTER, enter the command mode code number using the 3 number button.
Hold down both the number buttons and ENTER at the same time for more than three seconds.
Remote control has been set on mode-3, now player will accept remote commands.
Hope this will help you.
Thanks.

I have a Sony RDR-GX360. Some how I have changed the command mode from DVD1 to DVD 3. Now my remote has frozen and I can't do anything with the DVR player. Is there a reset button or please help.

To fix the Sony remote dvd-1 dvd-2 dvd-3 issue is to take the remote for that recoreder into another room or unplug the dvd recorder a moment. Then hold down the enter key and the number of the mode its stuck in ie if its stuck in dvd-1 mode hold down the enter key and then the 1 key. hold both buttons together for 3 seconds. After this go back into the room and try it or if you unpluged tthe player replug it back in. The remote has to be away from the player to work. again example

get away from player different room so it can not sence remote. Hold down enter and 1 button for 3 seconds and then try it
if its stuck in dvd-2 mode dold down enter and the number 2 button together for 3 secondsd and try it. The idea is you have to be far away from the recorder so it dosent recieve any inputs from the remote while doing this.bigsmile.gifclap.gifagreed.gifpuh2.gifbowdown.gifeek.gif To fix the Sony remote dvd-1 dvd-2 dvd-3 issue is to take the remote for that recoreder into another room or unplug the dvd recorder a moment. Picture is split -- says P-SCAN. It's stuck

that means it is stuck on progressive scan.  If your tv is not able to handle progressive scan, you need to change it back or reset the player.
The DVD player may be set to Progressive Scan Mode. You will need to change it to Video Mode by using the remote control. Point the remote control directly at the DVD player, and then press the PSCAN button 2-3 times. If you are still encountering problems with the DVD player, reset the unit back to the default setting.

To Reset,
Make sure you do not have a disk in the tray. Using the DVD player remote control: 1) Press the “Setup” button. 2) On the “Down” arrow, press it three times. 3) On the “Right’ arrow, press it once. 4) On the “Down” arrow, press it three times. 5) On the “Right” arrow, press it once, then press “Enter”. 6) Press the Setup button. *The default setting will take affect as soon as you press the setup button (step 6).
Hope it helps..please rate!

I had this same problem (DVD1). Resolved as follows: With DVD player on, pointed remote at DVD player, pressed and held the 1 key and then pressed and held the enter key (both at same time) until I saw the DVD1 on the DVD player display disappear. Now everything works.

Remote doesn't work

Slide the bottom part of the remote control down. Switch the bottom right button to DVD 1. There might be a white sticker that covers it so remove the sticker first. Then hold down the "Enter" button and the "1" button down at the same time for a few seconds. That should make the remote work again.

Unable to change the DVD 1 Command Mode back to DVD 3 (DEFAULT) SETTING

Had the same problem when I changed the factory settings by mistake. There is no "cancel" button in the remote or the set. What worked for me was to follow the directions on P. 22 of the manual and change the remote settings to DVD 1. This is done by holding the "Enter" button and pressing number 1 on the keypad simultaneously for more than 5 seconds. Then, you go back to the "Settings" screen with the "Settings" button, change the control back to DVD 3, and reverse the setting in the remote by pressing "Enter" and the number 3 this time. Remember to hold them down more than 5 seconds. Good luck!
