Question about Fastora NAS-T4 Hard Drive Array

Open Question

Undeleting Files Last night, I inadvertently deleted a set of files from the Museum's NAS T-4 server. I have Winundelete, but it won't allow me to undelete from the server. Is there any way to undelete the files I need? We just finished doing a lot of file reorganization and repartitioning (not by me!) so I haven't done a backup yet and know the lastest versions of the deleted files aren't on it yet. Help!

SOURCE: Cannot delete files or folder that paste into NAS-104

This is a procedure to hack into the NAS-104 running Filer 2.0:

1) Enable SSH using the web config menu
2) run putty and log in as root (a menu shows after successful login)
3) select "ping"
4) type in "192.168.0.1 ; mv /root/bin/uishell /root/bin/uishellno ; ln -s /bin/sh /root/bin/uishell"
5) log off and log in as root again

you know have root access to your NAS

How do I get my files back?

It seems your OS on the NAS has being destroyed some how (maybe a power failure or unattended shutdown...). To recover your files from the broken NAS, I suggest to open your NAS and get the HDD out. Most NAS works with a special embedded Linux system, so it's possible the internal HDD to have ext2, ext3 or ext4 structure wich is completely readable if you connect the extracted NAS's HDD to a desktop of any kind and boot from a Live CD as PartedMagic. Once you boot that LiveCd, you could mount the existent partitions on the extracted NAS HDD (and attached to the system that you've just booted) and recover your files from it. Also you could check the NAS HDD to see what's going wrong with him, also from inside the PartedMagic. For that, you need some Linux skills, but don't be afraid: it's much easy than you figure... And, as final suggestion, mount the NAS's HDD founded partitions as READ-ONLY, to prevent them to be erased/deleted by accident.

In your office network, for sure, you have a DHCP server who gave the IP addresses to all devices for that network and this seems to be the reason for why you could see your NAS. On home, you also need a DHCP server. You don't say anything about you home network. The best idea is to just make a temporary network with 2 devices: your computer and your NAS by connecting the NAS directly to your computer's network adapter, set the IPV4 IP for that adapter to the same class addresses as your NAS was set by default (usually NAS had "192.168.x.y" where "x" could be 0, 1 or 2 "y" could be any value between 1 and 254, but mostly, 1) and try to access it via http to manage him (need a user name and a password). For NAS default address and username and password, consult NAS user manual. Access it with from your preferred browser using: \\192.168.x.y
Once you gain the control, cut off his DHCP service and tell him to accept the IP address from the network defined DHCP. (btw: one normal DHCP server is allowed on one network! Cascaded DHCP also is allowed, but it's a little bit complicated)
Good luck!

If it's new it's probably doing some housekeeping. The drives need to be formatted and then the RAID arrays need to be sorted.

On installing my server, it took days to complete, however, that was with existing data on the drive.

It might not be letting you switch off because it's busy and doing so would mess up what it's trying to perform.

If you don't want to wait to find out if all is OK, go into the configuratio utility and set just one drive up. This will show if it's working as a unit. If all is fine, install the remaining drives, maybe one at a time.

I try to connect DLINK dns 323 to WD TV by USB cable but it not work how can i solve this

The USB port on the D-Link DNS 323 NAS is for a printer only. It won't work with your WD TV. Your best bet would be to plug the WD TV into a PC that is connected to your network along with the D-Link DNS 323 NAS and serve your media files that way.

CanĀ“t use INTEL SS4000-E to host the files of my database from SQL SERVER 2000

The SS4000-E  is a NAS storage server.  To the best of my knowledge it is not possible to put database files on a NAS.  They need to do on Direct Attached Storage.
