Microsoft Word on Mac

A few questions/problems when using Word on my MacBook:

  • How to delete words to the right of the cursor?
  • What key stroke do I use for the Home and End keys that I had on my PC?
  • When opening a document that was created using a different version of Word and was created on a PC, there are a few letters that come up wrong. For example, 'August' is spelled 'Nugust'. This only happens with 3 words in the document: 'Nay' instead of 'May', 'Nugust' instead of 'August', and 'Ectober' instead of 'October'. When I put the cursor to the right of the wrong letter and delete and retype it, it still comes up incorrectly, however if I type the word, using the exact same formatting, somewhere else in the document (even right next to the incorrect word) then cut and paste it (or simply delete the word entirely), it comes out fine. But when I save it and open the document again later the problem persists. Additionally, when I send the document to people using a PC, the letters appear correctly when they open it. I can't figure out what's going on...
Many thanks.

Delete words to the right by holding down fn and delete.
For Home and End, hold down the fn key and either the right arrow (End) or left arrow (Home).

Highlight the entire text of document. Go to Toolbox, then font, then up the top of all the mac fonts there is something call "windows compatable font" go in there and change the entire document to a a PC prefered font. When saving doc, make sure you select "windows 97-2008" as the option in the second drop down box on the save location screen. Hopefully that should fix it.

Want to delete all messages

To delete all (or some) email messages, open your email page Inbox
Select first message, then hold down the Shift key and select last visible message
That highlights all messages on the page
Press Delete key, [or Right click on mouse and select Delete]
You can Select ALL messages by scolling down to the last message and Shift+select,
but if you have 1000's, it will take so long you wonder if your computer is doing
anything.
To select all but a few, you can click on those using Ctrl+Select after you have selected
all.

Microsoft Office needs to be compatible with the external microphone. Just because your MacBook recognizes the mic through the adapter doesn't mean OneNote does.

I need to type a paper for class. how do i start? i have a laptop.

In order to type a paper for your class, on your Macbook, you would need a word processing application, in order to accomplish this. The most commonly used application, believe it or not,is Microsoft Office for Mac 2008 or the earlier version, 2008. However, if you don't have a copy of either and do are not moved to shell out several hundred dollars or more, I have another option for you.

Try Open Office for Mac. It is free and it does not take long to set up on your Mac.

Here are two key links for you to review for more info
FAQs about Open Office (Aqua) for Mac
Download Open Office for Mac OS X (Intel) Aqua

The word processing application you will need to use in Open office, is caller Writer" and it saves in all the formats that are readable in Microsoft Word for both the Mac and the PC.

If you have more questions on using this open source free software, please let me know. Always glad to help!
