The belt is a tight fit so you need some strength
remove top. loop belt over the motor pulley and start belt onto drum pulley. turn drum pulley and belt will work its way on. there is just enough room to do this

I think the drive belt has gone as the motor sounds as if it is spinning but the drum isnt moving. How easy is it to fit a new drive belt?

I haven't worked on a Zanussi yet but usually once the top has been removed replacing the belt is a fairly straightforward and intuitive process - it is removing the top that tends to be the difficult part.

I expect washer-driers would be more difficult but so far I have managed to avoid those.

I have a Zanussi Aquacycle 1000. It is taking in water and draining but the drum does not rotate both during wash cycle and spin cycle. Urgent help needed as we have people staying from England and NO wash...

Hi.

If the machine is filling up, then cycling and draining, the problem is usually the belt. The belt is reached disassembling the appliance . If the belt is OK the problem is usually the motor or the motor control unit, which is a sealed electronic module connected to motor and to control board and located inside the washer. If the motor has volts and does not turn, then the motor must be replaced. In some less common case the control module itself may be responsible. Motor assembly and belt are located at the back of the drum and get accessed disassembling top and back of the washing machine.

If the machine does not go through the cycle, but it starts draining from start, then the problem is overfill detected. In that case check the drain system, the drain hose, the inlet valve and the pressure switch.

Regards.

My zanussi washer dryer wjs 1397 w drum is not turning

It is most likely that the drive belt is broken and needs repalcing, If you remove the rear panel it will be obvious if it has broken *** there will be a lrge flywheel attached to the drum and no drive belt going to the motor, near the bottom of the machine. These are easy to obtain from any domestic appliance spares store or mail order. They are also very easy to fit.If the drive belt is in place and is reasonably tight (taught) then you may have an issue with the motor. clutch or brake.

Drum/motor belt

you dont need to untension it, firstly place the belt on the small pulley on the motor then feed onto the main drum pulley gently turning it as you go, it may feel as though it wont go but it will as long as you have the right belt that is.
hope this helps

I have always fitted the the motor cog first then start by placing belt on half of the drum cog as much as you can, then by hand turn the drum and the belt should slip on.

Zanussi washing machine drum will not go round at all

i had a similar problem with a zanussi machine
a cheap bracelet got washed with some clothes and it found its way into the drum housing jamming the drum.

it may have been cheap to fix, but i just got rid of it cos it was 4 years old anyway

i now have a zanussi ZWF1231W just past its 1 wear warranty that has just died completely except for an "on indicator light"
the store inform me that i will have to pay the zanussi engineer a Euro 90 call out charge, plus labour costs, plus parts if needed.

im a little bit disappointed with zanussi to say the least
