My scanner says, cannot retrieve application list.

A quick fix for most communication errors can be achieved by resetting the printer and/or rebooting the PC. Simply disconnect the printer from your computer. Reboot your pc. Unplug and re-plug the printer into the power source to reset it. When the printer turns on, reconnect it to your computer. Then try to print again once the computer fully recognizes the USB connection.

If that doesn't help, try the steps below:

1. Disconnect the printer from your computer.

2. Re-brick your printer. Pull out the power supply, black box where the power cord is plugged in at the back of the printer, and put it back after 30 seconds.

2. On your computer, go to Control Panel > Printers and Faxes.

3. Delete the Lexmark print object.

4. Reboot your pc.

5. When your pc turns on, reconnect the printer.

6. Wait until your pc fully recognizes the USB connection. To check, go to Control Panel > Printers and Faxes. If you see a new Lexmark print object in the list, then try to print a document again to verify that the problem is fixed.

You may also try to update your printer driver by inserting the installation disc that came with your printer into your computer hard drive.

I have a hp4345mfp on the display it is showing a error internal disk not found we do not have a hard drive can we turn off the hard drive thank you my email is

All HP MFP's have an internal harddrive and will only function as printers if that drive fails. You need to replace the harddrive. It is mounted on the formatterwhich is accessed on the back. First remove the sliding panel and then open the metal door. These are right where the fax and data cables plug in. You can replace the drive with almost any 2.5" IDE harddrive that you can find. The standard model will be either a 20, 30 or 40 gig, I have installed up to 160 gig drives with no problem. Do not order a drive from HP as they will charge several hundred dollars for a drive you should be able to get at any computer shop for less than $75.00. Be cautious removing the drive from the plastic mounts as they are easy to break.

How to install printer

First thing to do is install your drivers and/or software for your printer on your computer. Do not connect the printer to the computer until you are finished loading these files.

If its a brand new printer, it should have came with a disk to install the software. Find the disk and put it in your CDROM on your computer. The computer usually recognizes the CD automatically and the installation program will appear on your screen and give instructions to follow. If your computer does not auto recognize the CD and start the install then you need to manually locate the program to start it yourself. To locate the installation file on the CD double click "my computer" from your desktop and find the drive that represents it. Your CDROM should be either "D" or any letters in sequence beyond that point. The name of the install program should show up under the drive letter that represents the CDROM. When you locate it, double click on it and find the application for installation. Double click on the install file and then just follow the prompts to complete it. After the installation of the software is complete, connect your printer to your computer and turn it on. Your computer will automatically recognize the printer and tell you that your device is connected and ready to use.

Happy Printing!

You can download the full software from for supported OS versions. Select your OS and click Next. (That link also includes an option to order a new CD.)

Most likely, you had the all-in-one connected to the computer such that a generic driver installed instead when the OS recognized the drive when you booted with the new drive. Uninstall that driver, disconnect the data cable and install the full software.

I hope this helps.

I just bought a new HP pavilion laptop (because the Nvidia graphics chipset on my Dell went belly up). I pulled the Dell hard drive out and placed it into an external case intending to copy the data onto...

Hi Maltomeal

it seems you know your way around notebooks.
My first suggestion is to take the new hard drive out, and put the old one into the new computer to see if it will at least boot up.

Since I don't know the operating system or the type of format that was on your old hard drive, it is possible that the current operating system you are using will not recognize the old one.

If the hard drive boots up, and it may not recognize some of the drivers because its a different computer configuration, you should still be able to backup to a thumb drive.

If the hard drive does not boot up, then your hard drive has lost its information. You might need to take the hard drive to a data recovery company like ontrack.

thanks adi

Photosmart all in one printer is not reading the camera card and when I connect the camera itself to the computer the response is "error" and it shows a "no photos" response

make sure that the camera is recognized by the computer, you can check this by connecting the camera to the computer and check if it gives a popup balloon that says "Found new hardware"
check for the drivers
also check if you are putting the card the right way and also check if the card drive is properly mapped to the computer.
