I am assuming this set employs a switch mode power supply as virtually all TV's do these days, the fact that the power LED is on means that the primary fuse is intact, usually means that the primary side of the supply is also working, firstly check the electrolytic capacitors in the supply especially the startup cap which is normally of low capacitance but high in voltage rating, eg: 2.2uf 450V, if this cap leaks it can cause the supply not to fully start. If the problem is still there you need to check that the supply is working, do this by disconnecting the main rail on the secondary side, this will be the highest voltage output usually anywhere from 80-135V and hang a globe of the same wattage as that stamped on the back panel of the TV, the globe needs to be a standard incadescent type that you use in your home lighting, switch the set on and if the supply hiccups then check for leakages in any of the diodes on the secondary side, best to disconnect one leg of the diode. if the globe lights the supply is running, the indication is then that the protection circuit has activated, although I do not advise disconnecting the protection circuit, I have done this to trace a fault, then reconnecting it, normally any faults on you main rail will enable the protection. if this doesn't help, I advise telling me more about the set.
I hope this helps.

My Sony Bravia HX8/46 will not turn on, I check all the power going to it and it all works. Is there something I can do?

Is the standby led on the front lit. If not likely the problem is with power supply. If the standby led is on does it go off when the power button is pressed? Does the led blink. If so count the blinks and get back. The power supply provides an standby voltage to the main board. If the standby led is lit then this voltage is present. When the power button is pressed the micro sends a turn on voltage to the power board. Normally the power supply will respond and all other voltages needed to operate the set will come up. if a component is shorted the micro will not turn on the power board and will usually give a failure code via the standby led.

I bought my son a 19" philips tv model # 19pfl340d/27.in order to turn tv on it must be unplugged for 10-15 minutes. The first one I bought did the same thing and I returned it.this one is exactly the...

The remote control will not operate the TV when the TV is in the OFF mode (No LED lit on front bezel). To change the mode from OFF to STANDBY or ON, press the POWER button on the side of the TV. Once the POWER button is pressed, the LED will change to either red to indicate STANDBY or green to indicate ON, whichever mode the TV was in prior to being turned off with the TV POWER button.

By pressing the POWER button on the side of the TV, the mode will toggle from OFF to either STANDBY or ON. If the POWER button is pressed and then the LED on the bezel is red, the TV is in STANDBY mode and will need to be turned on using the remote control. If the POWER button is pressed and then the LED on the bezel is green, the TV is ON.
