Here below are possible causes and troubleshooting steps of laptop that can't power on, hope it may help:
Possible causes:

1. AC adapter failure.
2. Power jack failure.
3. Motherboard failure.

Possible troubleshooting steps and repair solutions:
1. Test the AC adapter with a digital multimeter. It's possible that you have a failed AC adapter. If you don't have a multimeter, test your laptop with another known good AC adapter.

2.It's possible that power jack (socket where you plug the AC adapter) is broken. Remove the motherboard and take a closer look at the power jack. In some cases you can fix the jack by resoldering it on the motherboard. In other cases you have to replace the jack with a new one. Using a multimeter, test if the power goes to the motherboard through the jack.

3. If replacing the AC power adapter and jack on the motherboard doesn't help, most likely you have a bad motherboard. Replace the motherboard.

I have an HP dv6 1350us. I just replaced the brackets on the screen and put it back together. I then plugged in the ac cord to the dc jack and the light (on the right side next to the jack) comes on, but...

You may have helped with the last drop in the "chip creep" effect and broken the contact between the motherboard and the power regulating chip. This is a common problem on Toshiba and HP laptop motherboards, here's how to repair this Maxim 1987 power chip problem. This Maxim chip regulates the voltage for every component on the board, and if it gets desoldered in at least one spot, then the motherboard just won't work.
It's basically a design flaw and it's nobody's fault (OK, it's HP's fault), and I'm sure you can pull off the repair, just stick to the instructions.

When the laptop is powered on you get 3 beeps abot 10 seconds apart and that is it. The Toshiba shop I took it to just said they are prone to overheat and it will be alot of money to fix, they did not...

Hi Alan, I have to start by saying it sounds like a motherboard problem but there are a couple of things you can try which may help. Are you savvy with a screwdriver? To start off with I would remove the hard drive and both ram sticks. Remove the AC power and the battery then press and hold the power button for one minute, start by replacing one of the ram modules (not the hard drive at this stage) and try to power it up individually from the battery and from AC with the battery removed, see if it gets any further and post back.

Pluged aspire 4520 in at night. next morning, no lights no power. nothing

if the unit will power one with ac adapter plugged in then you have a bad battery. check to see if you dc jack on the lap top lights up when you plug in the AC. if it does not light up then your dc jack or ac adapter is bad.

My turtle beach x1 stopped working

What happens if you try your X1 on a PC instead of on your Xbox? That's a good test of the mic... Here's how:
- Plug the X1 USB into a USB port on your PC. - Plug the X1 green plug into the green Line Out jack on your PC. - Plug the X1 pink plug into the pink Microphone jack on your PC.
Try recording the sound of your own voice on the PC, using Sound Recorder or whatever. Do you hear the sound of your voice? If so, your mic is working and the X1 chat/controller cable is probably broken. Replace the chat/controller cable.
If not, then the X1 mic is broken and you should contact Turtle Beach for service at support@turtlebeach.com.

Ac adapter

In some laptops the power socket (DC jack) is soldered to the motherboard.
If the battery stops charging when you wiggle the power plug inside the jack, either you have a bad power adapter (test it with a voltmeter) or the power jack is broken or loose.
If the power jack is not broken but loose (not making good contact with the motherboard) you can resolder the old jack without replacing it with a new one.
The laptop would have to be taken apart and the DC connector resoldered.
This would cost $75 - $100. Enter your zip code in the box on the right hand side of the FixYa page to find someone close to you.
If I could be of further assistance, let me know. If this helps or solves the issue, please rate it.
Thanks, Joe

Dc jack

On Ebay there are a few that just sell ac jacks. If you search for your jack, you can find one of these guys, and they really go into detail about the various jacks. ie.. OEM part numbers.
