Amp won't turn on

My amp, when hooked up, will not turn on. the green power light does not come on, instead the red 'protect' light comes on solid when i power the amp by turning the head unit is on. I have checked and double checked the wiring and it is all sweet, so I have no idea what is wrong with it. Help!!

Disconnect audio inputs and outputs and see if one of those are causing it , if it still does it with all audio inputs and outputs disconnected then there is a problem with the power amp

Tc 8001 red light

on some amps there is a duel light. red and green usually. red means it is in protect mode or you didn't hook up your remote wire. if in protect mode, it could mean a number of things. did you hook it up with speakers and everything?

Hi there just picked up a jbl bp 1200 for good price although just wired it up and turned the key to find the red light come on few seconds then solid green and no sound...checked ground, remote wire rca...

Most amps do a "power up" where all the lights can come on, then settle into "green light" or some sort of "ready status" light comes on. The red or yellow lights can indicate "protection mode" (a bad amp) and green is the universal signal for okay. - So try this - Double check your connections and the amp. Pay close attention to the settings on the amp before you declare it not working. I have had many amps (especially newer ones) cause problems from a simple switch that was in the wrong position. Be sure to use good power and audio cables matched to your amps capabilities with good strong grounds on a clean non-painted metal surface. If all is in order from there start checking your signal from the deck to the amp. You can also check manufactures website for the manual, (if you didn't get one) looking at it may give a clue about proper switch configurations and hook-ups. Let me know if you need additional info concerning these idea's.

Sounds like you have an ohm problem, Tryy hooking the positive from one speaker to the negative on the other speaker. Then hook the negative from the first speaker to the negative on your amp and the positive from the second to the positive on the amp this will drop your ohm load and the amp should stop going into protection.
