This is the most common errors in all printer. For me i don't care this errors as long as the printer print. However you can remove that error by disconnecting the printer from the pc and the uninstall the driver. after uninstalling restart the computer and reinstall the printer driver again.

may this help, tell if incase.

You have an issue. ALL printers tell you that you are out of ink while there is still ink. Bite the bullet and replace the cartridges.

One colour cartdridge is empty can i print black only

To print with black ink only, you have to go Print, on the window that shows up click on Preferences then select the Color tab and tick the check-box for Print in Greyscale.

But bear in mind that ink is a lubricant for the print heads. Some color ink is used even if you only print in black or vice-versa. If you print with a color missing, you could destroy that print head from the friction of running without ink to lubricate it. That's why most printers won't allow you to print with a color missing even if you aren't using it.

If you allow a color to go empty, the residual ink in the head could clog and become permanently blocked. You would never be able to print that color again. So always replace ink cartridges as soon as they are empty.

I replaced an ink cartridge because the printer stopped working and showed a message that the old cartridge is empty. However after putting the new one in but the printer still refuses to work and shows...

maybe the cartridge is wrong, release it and clean the electrical contacts, put them again one by one, if notting happen, try this
Solution As the printer operates, it moves ink from the ink cartridges into a printhead reservoir. The printer does not deliver a message when an ink cartridge goes empty, because it still has ink in the reservoir. The printer continues printing until the ink level in the reservoir falls to a first trigger point - then a message appears advising the printer owner to Replace Cartridges Soon . At this point, other cartridges that are empty but have not reached the trigger point are also mentioned in the message, to save trips to the retailer. After the first trigger point, the printer can continue printing until ink levels in the reservoir reach a second trigger point. At the second trigger point there is only enough ink left to perform vital servicing tasks, and a new message appears, saying Ink Cartridges Empty . The options offered depend on the usable inks remaining. If no options are offered, the cartridges indicated must be replaced before printing can continue. The Ink Cartridges Empty options are described in the table below: Ink colors out Option Print mode possible All Cancel None Black

Cyan, Magenta, or Yellow (any or all) Black only Continue with other colors Cyan/Magenta/Yellow mode (composite black)

Text and photo quality will differ from those printed when all colors are available Light Cyan or Light Magenta (either or both) Cyan, Magenta, or Yellow (any or all)

(Black still available) Print with black ink only Grayscale

Hp deskjet 1220c It only prints in red. I thought it was that the black cartridge was empty so I changed it. But the problem persists Any ideas?

If the printer has not been used for awhile, ink may have dried on the heads. Try cleaning the heads a few times. Then see if you can print solid blocks of each color. If they show up but have lines in them the heads will need to be cleaned again until they show solid.
