I have figured out a way around this problem.

So, using a 4-pin to 4-pin (aka 1394) firewire cable doesn't work for some odd reason. I have tried connecting the video recorder to multiple notebook pcs with a 4-pin firewire port.

I had installed the drivers for my sc d364 on my PC, the camcorder broke down and then bought a sc d 382, when I connected it to the PC some drivers or files were automatically installed. After that I did not have any problem. I suppose that some drivers and codecs of the sc d 364 are necesary. I hope it can help you.

I have a Samsung SC-D372 and a SC-D370. I was unable to transfer any video to my PC, I tried everything, even send one of my cameras to Samsung technical service, searched the web for a solutions. Then I read this post and go for the 6 pin firewire cable, even a card! But, what a nice surprise, I also bought a 4 to 4 pin firewire, to replace one that is lost, for a external HDD, then I connect the SC-D372 to the computer and that's it! I Think it works this time because I just updated my pc to windows XP SP3 and the new cable is not a cheap one... so, I hope this can help you guys., bye.
