I have install windows 7 on my siemens amilo pro laptop and every time i play a 3d game after ten minutes or so it goes off. please tell me what the problem; could be.thanks

The circumstances which you are narrating are quite clear that your display card is getting heated up during playing 3D games due to which your laptop is getting rebooted. Now you require to either put up a heat sink on your display card or get an external display card.

Display got garbled, and locked up - had to force power down; on reboot no display. Turned laptop on this AM, and went on internet (google chrome) and then screen got garbled, lost mouse control, and had...

I think your inverter is good but the video chip is overheating or become heat sensitive. What you are experiancing I have seen before with regular pc's. Most laptops just quit working alltogether.

Gateway P6860fx Shutdown

for what its worth I have the same laptop..bought it from best buy as you did.I play a lot of 3d games..I play Crysis for hours at a time as well as F.E.A.R. and have never had a shut down problem.I would suggest taking it back to best buy.The only thing I have found to be a problem with this laptop is that its a 64 bit operating system.I have Vista 32 bit on my other computer and have never had a problem..the 64 bit has given me driver problems on a few programs that I use to use.I'm actually thinking of doing a fresh install and put in vista 32 bit.Haven't decided yet..still searching for more info on the 2 systems.
Anyway..I'd take it back.
PS..the fan is working isn't it?

BSoD, Garbled Screen, Boot Failure.

If you are getting garbage on the screen before windows tries to load the laptop probably has a bad motherboard.

It's possibly only the video output is going bad on it, try hooking it to an external monitor and see if you get the same weird stuff on that screen.

Good luck, let me know how it goes

Distorted graphics and low frame rate with new 3d games

Based on that game list it sounds like the problem is related to hardware T&L(transform and lighting) as the games that cause the problem require T&L and the other games don't require it and their fine. It's a start, also have tried both direct3d and opengl modes? Good Luck

Sager d47v no video

It could be a lid switch. Get it on long enough to go into the power settings, turn the option of "lid closed" to "do nothing". If this does not help there are only 2 other things affecting it. 1. cable, internal to the machine that may be bad or 2. The video card on the MB itself. If its the latter, you will need to replace the MB or probably be cheaper to buy a new laptop.
