I recently purchased Two PNY 1Gb ram to upgrade from original 512mb. When I put both 1Gb ram in the slots, the computer will not boot up. When I take one out and put the original 512 back in with the other...

I don't know your specific model, but some of the Emachines had some memory directly on the motherboard. With the 1Gb and 512Mb sticks installed, boot the machine and report how much memory the system sees. Perhaps the onboard memory is causing you to exceed the 2Gb limit.

Please post the memory size you get here with the above sticks.

Thanks,
Dan

Upgrading ram in a dell 5150 do I need to install 2 menory boards of the same size at the same time. I have two 256 mb and I am trying to install 1 512 mb to expand the menory to 1 gb It works for awhile...

you have 4 memory connectors. the maximum memory the computer supports is 4 GB. it is recomended that you install in pairs, for some reasons, but i have installed and i have seen it doesnot matter at all. you can go ahead and install the memory for whatever size on the computer. make sure the bus speed should be either 400 or 533 MHZ. and yoou never explained the error message. when you upgrade the ram you will get a message the system memory has changed press f1 to continue or f2 for setup just press f1. if the error message is in windows after you click on your name it has nothing to do with your memory. if its before that. than try to reseat the memory. installing memory in non pairs doesnot cause any problem most of the time. explain the error message only than i can guide you furthur.

920-fan command 2 pin connector not connected

It is a 2 lead wire (red/white and black) that connect right next to the memory slot. you have to connect the red/white wire to the 5v+ side of the 4 pin peripheral and the black lead to the com (black) on the same 4 pin peripheral. i can't really think of any way better to explain at the moment. but any questions. email @ forwardyourletter@gmail.com

COMPAQ MODEL5050 - ERROR MESSAGE:PXE-E00- NOT ENOUGH BASE MEMORY. (FRESH INSTALLATION OF XP. WAS GETTING SAME MESSAGE BEFORE INSTALLATION)

Your computer was designed for Windows 98 not XP, XP needs at least 256 MBs of memory to run even near efficiency and your model of computer originally came with 96 MBs as witnessed by the company website here
While it is possible to get XP to run on your machine you are trading off a lot of wait time watching it slowly run with the limited amount of memory as originally placed in the computer by manufacturer. The RAM on the computer can be upgraded to 256 MBs according to company website which should cure your problem at least in the case of most of applications, but NOT all.
Present day ( modern RAM ) cannot be used on your system, and finding it locally may be difficult unless you have some variety of computer stores in your locale. You will need SDram. Recommend you make a print out of the page I referred you to and starting making phone calls or shopping on the web.
It doesn't hurt to pay a little bit more for this SDram as you want to be sure you have a good return policy just in case. Most technicians will not charge you extra to install the memory themselves if you buy at their local store.

Dvd burner dvd+rw and dvd r problem

Hey Bruce - In your first post you said DVD+RW works which would make sense. In your comment you said that DVD-RW works which would not make sense. You've got to be sure. I'll you what it is supposedly direct from HP/Compaq:

Your PC will " supposedly do the following":

CD, DVD, CD-R, CD-RW, DVD+R, DVD+RW. These as I said are straight from the horses mouth. You can check for yourself.

PLEASE RATE FIXED if I answerd your question or please don't rate at all. It only hurts our ratings. I've done what I can for you. Thanks Bruce. If you need more help just add a comment and Ill be happy to assist you further.

"this copy of windows must be activated..."

Hello!

Im affraid to answer this question because im sure that you rate me 'thanks for trying" but its ok as long as i can help.

well, In most cases, that problem will be resolve by directly going to the insternet and activate.

this statement is also correct" boot from the CD/DVD." Are you sure that the cd/DVD is ok. ? If the original CD is a bootable disc then you have no problems . You should reinstall using the original CD.
1. at frist boot, press'F2" of "Delete" to enter the bios setup.
2. find the first boot setting and change it with CD rom and then pres "F10" to save and exit the setting.
the sytem will restart automatically. then press any key to boot from cd rom.

You are done.

please tell me the problems if this solution won't apply i will give you further solution.
best regards, melnavz
