SOURCE: I have an Alpine CDA-9815

It sounds like the sub woofer amplifier is pulling down the voltage level in the truck when it starts to get really loud. It may be the voltage regulator which is probably part of the alternator, or the alternator is not capable of supplying the needed current for the amplifier. If the voltage level drops below a certain level, the radio will see it as if the battery is disconnected. It requires a voltage level of around at least 10 volts to stay turned on. When an amplifier is playing loud, it draws a lot of current. If the current supply does not increase, it lowers the voltage level to compensate and get the current it needs to play at the level the head unit is pushing it to. As the voltage level goes down, the current increases when the voltage is dropping due to increased demand. You could check this with a voltage meter and monitor the level right at the battery and have somebody turn the volume up on the head unit slowly as you monitor the voltage level. The normal operating voltage of a car while the engine is running is about 14.4 volts. It should not drop much at all, no matter how loud the amplifier is playing. if it does drop, you have a problem with the trucks regulator or alternator.

I hope this helps, if you need more assistance let me know.

Dave

I recently installed the Alpine iDA-X100 model and I am having difficulties with my sub and amp. It works perfectly fine when it's on radio mode, however as soon as I switch it to Ipod it turns my amp...

Hi,

Initially, determine if the remote trigger of the amp is present on both instances; radio and iPod. This would be the blue or blue/white wire from head unit and would read +12VDC when the head unit is turned on. Otherwise, if +12 is present during radio mode but absent during iPod, then it might be that the internal switching would need looking into or a short temporary fix would be to wire a separate power on toggle switch for the amp.

Hope this be of initial help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need additional information.

Good luck and kind regards.

Thank you for using FixYa.

I have a set of Alpine Type R 12 inch subs... I have a 1500 watt amp powering them but when I turn the music up, the bass cuts out. Where should I start looking for the problem?

ground is loose(most likely amp), battery running low, subs might be damaged? feel free to keep me in touch if problem occurs more after checking grounds and power source and subs. Also might need to re-tune your head unit and amp?

You don't have S-Video coming out of it, although it looks like it. It's actually a bundled cable that carries power, video, audio, and control signal for an Alpine DVD player. It plugs into an interface box that has the actual power connections and inputs/output, and the control cable for an Alpine DVD player. I know this is an old post, but if you still have the unit and would like to sell it, or if you want to get the interface box, I can help you...

Check the 12v wire running from the battery to the amplifier. Also the sony explode is a garbage subwoofer compared to the Alpine.. sony (they say 1200w max but its more like 100w to power the thing) Amp could be going. Is the amplifier hot when running. If there is a burnt smell comming from the amp, its the amplifier

Alpine kca-420i when hooking up to alpine iva-d901 screen says no magazine and i pod doesn't power up

  1. Make sure your iPod has a fully charged battery before connecting it to the KCA-420i. When you connect it for the first first with low to no charge left, the receiver will not recognize it.
  2. Check all your AiNet cable connections. These connectors can be finnicky if they are not plugged in ALL the way and can come out when reinstalling the head unit
  3. Make sure your head unit is in Changer mode after verifying the above.
