Re: Matsonic motherboard MS9258EP
Thats an error with the driver. These days you dont get drivers with flash drives so you'll just have to live with it or reinstall windows. Reinstalling windows is recommended every year. I do mine every 3 months. It gives you a fresh copy of windows with no errors.

The audio on this board is C Media. To go to the download link click HERE. Okay, this is what you need to do. Download the Zip file from the link choosing save. Save it somewhere easy to find like your desktop. Unzip the files into a folder there. Now go into device manager (in XP) and expand the sound tree. Choose update driver and the hardware wizard will open. Select choose driver myself (don't let Widows automatically choose etc..) On the third screen select search for driver here and browse to the folder you unzipped on your desktop. Click next and you should see folders star to trnsfer. If so you are in business and if Windows complains that it hasn't passed Windows logo test just ignore and continue. Hope this helps.
Follow the instructions here to update your device drivers.

I think you installed windows xp sp3, try re installing with windows xp sp2 because microsoft removed support for high definition audio in sp3 version of xp, if you dont want to re-install or you want to use sp3, download the high definition audio update (kb835221.exe).
1. Download the BIOS flash utility. 2. Download the BIOS rom file. 3. Format a floppy drive, with system files so that it is bootable. 4. Copy the utility and the rom file to the floppy drive. 5. Boot from the floppy drive. 6. At the c:/ prompt enter the name of the flash utility file followed by the name of the rom file. Example: awd816a.exe romfile.rom 7. Let the program run. Do not turn off your computer until prompted to do so.
