Question about Flat Panel Televisions

Phillips 42PF9631D 42

Greetings,

I purchased the Phillips Plasma TV in December 2006 and everything worked great until this morning, I attempted to turn on the unit, nothing happened, no bang,Psshh or splat !! However, I got a couple of flashes from some little red light located at the bottom right hand corner of the set..? Confused, I unplugged the unit, for a "cooling" off period, but to no avail..I researched a little on the webb and found this was a similar problem with ALL philips tv's { I was sad.} I like my Tv and cannot afford a new one!! I contacted Phillips, and could have sworn I heard laughter in the back ground, they in return refered me to a local repair shop, again I swear there was laughter..I was told to wish in one hand and poop in the other to see which one filled quicker..That was about how quick the repair could be made..So, I'm appealing to your kindness and asking for any asistance you might have to offer, outside of the ramdom laughing I have been getting.

kind regards,

Joseph E Perry

Do you hear a clicking sound when you try and turn it on? If so how many clicks? Also do you have and sound from the unit static or anything?

I heard Two clicking sounds, like it was trying to turn on but failed to do so. It almost sounds like the unit was going to turn on, you know the normal static sound, then it dropped off.

I have phillips 42pf9631d/37 that wont turn on and blinks red seven times

I have the model Philips 37PF7320A/37 won't turn on and MOST articles on the Internet say it's the Capacitors capictors capictors..I checked all of them.

MINE WAS RESISTOR no. 3318 , a 100 OHM RESISTOR ON POWER SUPPLY BOARD.

I BOUGHT REPLACEMENT FOR .99 CENTS SOLDER IT, AND EVERYTHING WORKED!!!

THAT WAS ALL IT TOOK.

JUST A SUGGESTION..
1. CHECK FOR BULGING CAPACITORS (90 PERCENT OF THE PROBLEM)
2. THEN CHECK FOR RESISTORS WITH MULTIMETER ( FALLS INTO THE OTHER 10 PERCENT OF THE PROBLEM.)

TELL ME IF THAT HELPS..normanw1@yahoo.com

Philip have alot power problems with their tv.Check power board for puff up parts like Capacitors,or rust in cracks or soldering.Changes parts or the whole power board.

Worked it out. The Direct TV remote has a yellow button and that did it. I don't know whether I had inadvertently programmed it that way but problem gone.
Thanks.

I had the same problem and fixed with a great online tutorial. Just replace 3 capacitors available at Radioshack onthe the board. 2662, 2663, 2664 1 is a 1000uf the others are 100uf. Max Volts need to be over 25. It worked great, check http://dynamicorange.com/2008/06/25/fixing-a-plasma-tv/
