Question about Brother MFC-640CW All-In-One InkJet Printer
I have found several sets of instructions for refilling the Brother LC41 ink cartridge on the web. They all use a syringe. Most of them tell you to make a new hole (in various different places) and one indicates that you should remove the needle from the syringe and fill it through the existing hole where the ink comes out (continually making sure to pump out any air that is in the cartridge).
Of the ones that tell you to make a new hole, there are different several places in which it indicates to make it:
o On the side of the cartridge 1/4 inch down from the top black cap.
o On the top of the cartridge's black cap, right where the "o" in the brother logo is (I think this one was on this site).
o On the very tip top of the cartridge "tab" (the part of the cartridge you would naturally hold to pull it out of the socket) where there is already a slight indentation.
Some say to use electrical tape or glue to cover the hole after you are finished, or else the ink will spill out. Some say NOT to cover the hole or else the ink may spill out :-)
Note that some of the procedures are for the LC-900 cartridge, which seems to be the same as the LC41.
So what is it? Which is the "correct" procedure?
a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.

Hey its very simple, you'll need a syringe and an exacto knife. You just need to pop the case in half use the exacto knife to cut the seem very carfully and to pry the cartridge apart carfully. On the back of the cartridge you'll see a little indintation were it was filled in the factory just fill the cartridge with a syringe push in the indintation fill cartridge remember to leave a little air in there and seal the hole up so it's air tight again this can be done by using a little hot glue to seal the hole. I hope I was helpful. As well you can by a continous ink system for the brother 240c which is pretty need too

Do mix the ink with some glycerol to prevent clogging!
2ml glycerol (85%-glycerin alc. from drugstore) with 10ml of ink for C/Y/M and shake well (mix) before use. Mix 1,5 ml glycerol with 20ml BK ink.
Simply drill a hole into the brandname (O of brother) on top of the cart. Refill with 12ml for C/Y/M and about 21ml for bk.
You can leave the hole open.
Next time when cart is empty simply open scanner and refill without taking the cart out! ;-)
DO MIX THE INK WITH GLYCEROL!!!
