Magnets and projection screens do not mix well. When you say `busted up` it could mean a few things.

If it means blotches of color on the screen
-Caused when your projection TV becomes magnetized.
Fix:
-Use a strong magnetic coil and make circular motions around your projection TV screen starting on the upper left corner.
-Increase the size of the circles you're making until you've covered the entire screen. Slowly move away from the screen; continuing to make circular motions with the magnet.
-When the magnet loses contact, the color blotches should be gone.

hope this helps

What is happening to my TV? It's as though a red blotchy haze appears in the left side of the picture. I'm so sad!

What kind of TV is it? In the old days of CRT TVs if you put a strong magnet next to the screen, it slightly magnetizes the screen and corrupts the picture. Many TVs had built in "Degause" ability so look in the manual or download the manual to check.

If it is a LCD it could be damage to the screen. Many LCDs will distort the picture when pressure is applied to the LCD screen. This is usually not fixable except to replace the screen. If the LCD screen is being twisted in some way, like a warped cabinet or something pushing on it, that MIGHT be fixed. Remove the pressure if possible and it might help.

This is a fan issue, most likely the large fan in the rear, lower left (from the back)...

Here's the fix, I promise, it's EASY........

Ok, I think I have the answer for the BIG FAN failure. I recently did a similar fix on the spindle of an xbox 360 and it is identicle. Ok, this is an EXTREMELY EASY FIX...

Open the back of the tv, locate the large fan (on the lower left on the back of the set.) unscrew the screen and remove the fan.

Once the fan is removed, you will see the side with the model number and the other side is totally open.

On the open side, pull...

The fan will come off, into your hand, it is only held by magnets...

You will notice a spindle on the fan and the other side has the magnets and the hole where the spindle came from (this is the fan motor).

Clean both the spindle and the hole (motor) with a q-tip. The hole is smaller than the q-tip, but do the best you can to remove the old lubricant.

Get a bit of WD40 and lubricate the spindle and spray a touch in the hole.

Put them together, reconnect your fan, test it on startup and thank me...lol...

HOPE THIS HELPS!!!! IT WORKS, TRUST ME...

Color spots on panasonic projection screen

The light engine may be dirty with dust, the polarizer filter burned, or the LCD elements burned.

As a last-ditch effort, the light engine can be taken apart and carefully cleaned using compressed air.
