Fax and cancel lights are flashing

Recently copying and printing have been very slow. Message "scanner bulb is warming up". Tonight we are unable to fax and lights are flashing and message in window says"scanner error... power on power off" ????

I found this solution at HP website. It worked for me. Good luck!

A Scanner Bulb Error message is received as a result of the HP LaserJet 3300mfp series product scanner’s inability to find the home reference point.
SOLUTION:
Perform the following steps to walk the scan assembly from the home base and resolve the issue.
1. Remove and replace the power cord from the unit.
2. Wait approximately 35 seconds for the scanning assembly to “walk out" and then quickly remove the plug again.
3. Repeat steps 1 and 2, three to four times until the head moves approximately 1 inch away from its normal resting place.
4. Replace the plug and let the product fully finish the boot cycle.

Why is the light flashing on the right side


If the light flashing is the "light bulb like button" or the "Ready/Light" button, it means that either the printer is:

• The printer is busy receiving and processing data or printing.
• The printer is printing a directory, font list, menu settings pages, or Print Quality Test Pages.


If it's Busy:
• Wait for the message to clear.
• Press and release Cancel to cancel the print job.
• Press and hold Cancel to reset the printer.

We have the E260d. What does it mean when the light bulb flashes. We are unable to print. What can we do?


You can unplug the printer from the wall, then leave it off for about 30 seconds then plug it back in. That should reset the printer, if not read what the message says on the screen, or you may have to navigate through the settings to see the error message.

My mfc240c says to replace the yellow ink cartridge but I don't want to spend money on that if the 'light bulb' is ruined. When I turn on the machine, I don't see any light for scanning or copying. ...


By the "light bulb," do you mean the scanner lamp? That lamp should only turn on when you are actually scanning, faxing, or copying a document. You should be able to still use the machine to scan and fax, even with the yellow ink empty. Try scanning a document to see if the scanner lamp comes on.

As far as printing or copying goes, you won't be able to print or copy anything until you replace the yellow ink, even if you try printing in black and white only.

Hello,

You are correct with your diagnostics, he problem is caused by dirty optics. The mirrors in the scanner have dust, lint or smoke on them. When the scanner powers up it tries to calibrate itself and waits for the bulb to warm up so the light output gets to a certain level. With the dirty optics the scanner never gets enough light so it thinks the scanner is still warming up and so it waits for the light to get brighter. After a few minutes of waiting and not getting the correct level of light it gives the power off message. My Del 962 will not scan. The light does not come on and it does nothing. What should I do?


Hi,.... I'm having the same problem as sharon_mi334. My Dell AIO 962 does not copy, fax or scan...but prints. When attempted(copy, fax or scan), the output is a scanned image or a print out that's completely black. When I looked at the "scanner light unit/ copier camera" or what-ever it's called ... the gizmo that moves across under the glass plate,... I noticed there was NO light coming out of it as it should on any other copier, etc. Sooo,... is that the problem, ie: unable to copy the image? If so, can I fix that by replacing a bulb or a particular unit? Looking for some advice and thank you for your help and time.

Fax problem


first try to make a copy and check if you get the same error message..
if you get the same error message..try these steps..
1)connect the printer directly to the wall outlet..and try to make a copy..if you get the same error message..then go the next step
2)unplug the power chord from the back of the printer..press and hold OK and CANCEL buttons together..
3)while pressing these two buttons plug in the power chord to the back of the printer..after you plug in the power chord do not release the buttons untill the screen goes blank..
4)once the screen is blank release the buttons and turn ON the printer..
5)wait for the printer to complete the initialization..
6)then try to make a copy and check if it is copying successfully..
if not machine should be replaced because scanner bulb is not getting enough power or scanner bulb is gone bad..
please try these steps and let me if the solution has worked
