Best way about playing and converting MPG/MPEG files on Mac

To play an MPG file, a QuickTime player on Mac couldn’t fully satisfied. If you have an MPG file and you want to play it on your Mac, you need to download some components for Mac players or some other media players. If you want to edit this MPG file in iMovie, you need to convert this MPG file into MOV format first, and then edit it.
If you only want to play your MPG file, here we recommend two components for QuickTime Player. The most popular components for Mac players on market are Perian and Flip4Mac. The first solution is download one from either official website.
perian_lg.jpg
Perianis an open source plug-in which enables QuickTime to play several popular video formats not supported natively by QuickTime on Mac OS X, i.e. AVI, DIVX, FLV, MKV, GVI, VP6, and VFW. If your MOV file is still on strike, try to uninstall your old QuickTime Version and download the latest one QuickTime 7.6.
Flip4Mac is for watching Windows Media files (.wma and .wmv) directly in QuickTime Player and viewing Windows Media content on the Internet using a Web browser. It’s not suitable for playing a MOV file.

How to edit and convert MPG/MPEG files to MOV?

If you want to do more and you want to edit it on iMovie or upload onto YouTube, you need a media converter for Mac to convert MPG/MPEG files to MOV formats. Mac MPG to MOV Converter will show you how to achieve it within several easy steps.
Download and install MPG/MPEG to MOV Converter for Mac here.

Step 1: After this Mac MPG/MPEG Converter is running , just click “ADD” button on the top, and choose your MPG or MPEG file you want to convert. If you have several MPG files and you want to put them together and get a complete MOV file, just check all the files and check the box in front of Merge into one.

Step 2: Click the “format” button on the thumbnail, select “Common Video” and Choose ‘MOV-QuickTime (*.mov)’ from the dropdown list . If you have no idea what kind of formats that your device supports, just choose according to the device’s name.

Step 3: Before pressing Convert button, we advise you check the setting first. You can change the settings manually, also you can use the original settings, which will work just perfect.

Step 4: If you have no use for editing MPG/MPEG videos, just press “Start” and begin to convert MPG video to MOV for your Mac.

Tips:
What is MOV?
MOV is a file extension used by the QuickTime-wrapped files. The format was created by Apple Computer to work with multimedia files. MOV is a container format and can contain video, animation, graphics, 3D and virtual reality (VR) content or text (for subtitles, for example).

My imac 2011 is buffering severely when watching vidieos

This is likely from your internet connection. You will want to find out what speed your internet connection is. Also try watching the videos in 480 definition. Not HD.

I have a PC desk top GA-MA790GP-DS4H that freeze when I start watching a video or movie. What is wrong VGA card or memory?

What sort of video?
It could be 1 of 3 things. 1. your internet connection is not fast enough. 2. Your processor speed is not fast enough. 3. You do not have enough RAM
Unfortunately I can't find reference to the part number you quote.

My Mac is having trouble playing online videos (like you tube)

its not your computer. its the browser you are using. Safari has a issue right now that if you try to play any movie or any game that is using flash which youtube is flash, it won't play or is skippy. So to watch your clips you should use Firefox, Mozilla, Opera . I use firefox and all the movies in flash or shockwave is viewable but with safari you can't. And you can try to install flash again and again it won't help, because safari's developers still forget to allow flash to update on the browser. So since they neglect to fix it in all their updates i just refuse to use it and use firefox. Also you might want to dump your cache for the browser you use as well. becuase buffer means nothing if your cache is full.

and the internet speed usually is a sign that your browser's cache is full. and that you need to delete or dump or clean out the cache.
