Question about PC Desktops

I have a Canon D646U-ex scanner. Currently when previewing prior to scanning I am getting a series of square black blotches on the image that I am attempting to scan. I have checked that all of the connections are OK. Can you help.

    Thanks for your help.

I since found that I was trying to scan a document that was printed out in "greyscale" format and

apparently the scanner could not handle it. After a short time trying I then scanned another document in ordinary print, that is black and white setting and found everything was fine. Thanks very much for your very prompt help.

Try checking the aspect ratio ( Color Quality ) of your video card. set it to the highest setting. let me know if this works, if not you might need to contact the manufacture of the scanner.

A full feature software and driver package for Windows 7 is not available for your product. However, the Windows 7 operating system installed on your computer contains a basic driver solution for your product. With the basic driver, some of the advanced product features are not available. You can print from a software program, and import and view images on a memory card, if your product has a memory card slot. With this basic driver, the buttons on the product do not function and some of the advanced product features are not available. How to Scan a Document in Windows 7 By Greg Harvey The Windows Fax and Scan utility enables you to scan documents and pictures. Before you can scan documents and pictures, you must have a scanner installed on your computer. Your scanner must be listed in the Devices section of the Devices and Printers Control Panel window.

To check to see if your scanner is properly installed, open the Device Stage. Choose Start?Devices and Printers. If Windows doesn't automatically find your scanner, you can manually add it in the Devices and Printers window by clicking the Add a Device button in the toolbar and following the wizard's commands.

  1. Choose Start?All Programs?Windows Fax and Scan.

Windows 7 opens the Windows Fax and Scan window.

  2. Click the Scan button in the Navigation pane, then click the New Scan button on the toolbar.

The New Scan dialog box for your scanner opens.

  3. Use the settings on the right to describe your scan.

By letting the computer know what you're scanning, its color profile, and the type of file you plan to create, you enable Windows Fax and Scan to create the highest quality scan.

  4. Click the Preview button to see what your document will look like.

    Make any last minute changes.

  5. If you're happy with the preview, click the Scan button.

Windows scans the document and presents you with an image of your document.

  6. Click the Save As button and complete the necessary information.

Enter the filename, the type of graphics file you want saved, and then click the Save button.

To automatically forward the document you've just scanned as an attachment to a new fax message, click the Forward as Fax button.

The scan feature in the Windows Fax and Scan utility is set primarily to scan text documents. If you want to scan a photograph or other graphic, you're better off doing that directly within the Windows Live Photo Gallery.

How do scam a piture unto my computer

  1. Blow the dust from your scanner and printing area with canned air. Clean the scanner bed and the underside of the document lid with a damp, lint-free cloth before scanning.

  2. Get your computer and all-in-one printer turned on and talking to each other. Open the scanning software on your computer if needed. If not, you can use the controls on your printer to run the show.

  3. Lay the picture to be scanned face-down on the glass. Square up the photo using the guides that are usually located along the edges of the scanning bed.

  4. Close the lid.

  5. Go for a higher dpi (dots per inch) count if you plan on displaying the scanned image at larger-than-life size. Otherwise, you can select a lower resolution.

  6. Click the scan button on your computer's scanning software window. Some all-in-one printers need you to press the scan button on the printer itself; check the manual before using.

  7. Get a preview of the scanned image up on your computer monitor. This might happen automatically depending on your software settings; if not, you will have to prompt your computer to display one.

  8. Correct small defects such as red-eye in the image. Save extensive changes for later with dedicated photo-editing software.

  9. Accept the scan and save to your hard drive. Remember to put your picture away

How to scan using an imac

  • Connect a USB or FireWire scanner to the iMac using the scanner cord and the ports on the back of the iMac. Turn the scanner on.

  • Use the CD or DVD that came with the scanner to install any required software drivers. If the manufacturer's instructions indicate the scanner does not require additional drivers, you can skip this step.
  • Put the object you want to scan face-down on the bed of the scanner.
  • Scan the object by pressing the "Scan" button on the scanner. Image Capture will launch automatically and display a low-resolution preview scan.
  • Set up the scan using Image Capture. The settings available will vary depending on the scanner you are using. With most scanners, you can select a specific area of the object to scan, choose a scan profile based on the type of object you are scanning, adjust the color options and set the resolution.
  • Click the "Scan" or "Scan to Folder" button to scan the object. The image will save to the "Pictures" of your home directory if you press "Scan." The image will save to whatever folder you specify if you press "Scan to Folder."

I need to scan and email a photo. How do I do that? hp officejet 4580

    1. Put the document you wish to scan face-down on the glass. Use the alignment markers to help you square up the object. These are usually found on the left-hand edge of the scanning area.
    2. Close the printer's document lid slowly so the document does not shift position.
    3. Select a scan resolution. The higher the dpi (dots per inch) count, the sharper and more detailed the image.
    4. Push the scan button. You may have to do this on the printer itself or on your computer.
    5. Check the preview of your scan on your computer. Depending on your all-in-one printer and software, you may have to prompt your computer to display the preview for you.
    6. Edit the image as it appears on your computer if you want to make changes. Your scanning software might let you enlarge, resize or otherwise manipulate the final product.
    7. Accept the scan and save. Return the original document to a safe location.

Make sure you didn't change the default settings for the scanned image. Sometimes we fiddle with those settings and create a file size that is either too large or out of bounds for our scanner. also try reducing the scanned image density and see if that helps. Sometimes the image is just too large for your installed memory to handle, I saw a jpg image on a customers PC once that was 8 gigabytes and he complained that it would never load.

I don't know how to save a scanned document onto my computer. I currently have a HP photosmart3110 All-in-one printer fax scanner copier

    Hi
All you need to do is use the scanning software provided with the HP device.

Before scanning it will ask you to look at the preview....when you are happy with the preview start the scanning and then it will ask you where to save it....it might also save it automatically....in which case it will be saved in your my pictures folder.

    cheers
