    This connector is SATA power

this one is the older molex 4 pin power

which one is it? or is it diffrent?

  • Ekse Oct 08, 2008

If the connector is broken off in your dvd drive, its cheapest to buy a new dvd drive, but if your connector is only broken the part which is pluged into the dvd then that is smart to replace. But if the drive is physically damaged, you can try your warranty. But a new DVD drive only costs around 30usd so its best to buy a new drive instead of trying to repair the dvd drive connectors. Let me get you a link to a new drive.

I reset my surge protector and the computer wont power up. i think i need a new power supply. the power cord is working fine. Please let me know where i can find a power supply for the aspire...

The Acer Aspire L100 is a desktop computer powered by a special DC adapter and power cable. The computer's motherboard incorporates a fuse designed to prevent any power surges from damaging the computer. If the fuse burns out due to a power surge or for any other reason, the computer will no longer function. You can check the motherboard fuse for damage yourself, then take it to a trained technician for replacement if needed

Shut down the Acer Aspire L100 and turn the tower around.

Press the "On/Off" button on the front of the tower. If the computer will not boot and the fan does not turn on, the fuse may be burned out.

Unplug the power cord from the rear of the tower

Turn the tower on its side and remove the Phillips-head screws connecting the back panel to the Aspire L100's cabinet.

Pull out the motherboard assembly gently from the back of the cabinet. The internal fuse is located on the motherboard behind the DC power jack, which is to the right of the monitor jack

Let me know if this helped..

Hi i have got a new keyboard and wish to change it on acer 7520

    taken from http://www.batterycentury.com/acer-aspire-7520g-502g25mi-keyboard-p-152819.html

Acer Aspire 7520G-502G25Mi Keyboard Repair and ReplacementAre you considering laptop keyboard repair? You might think twice if you happen to be the lucky owner of a laptop, because replacing the keyboard rather than repairing it could be a lot less expensive. Laptop keyboard replacement on this particular model is very easy and takes just a few minutes. Here is a quick Acer Aspire 7520G-502G25Mi Keyboard repair tutorial with step-by-step instructions. Once you have purchased the new keyboard, all you need to replace the old with the new is a screwdriver and something plastic, flat and thin like a credit card or guitar pick.
Step one: Remove the two screws from the bottom of the computer that are holding down the Acer Aspire 7520G-502G25Mi Keyboard bezel. The bezel is the bar that sits right above all the function keys.
Step two: Turn the computer over, open the cover and insert the credit card or guitar pick between the bezel and the laptop screen. The bezel has pegs that sit in holes, you need to slowly pry up the bezel. It will make a bit of a popping noise as it is removed.
Step three: Now hold on to the laptop keyboard from the end closest to the screen and gently pull it away from the touch-pad end and flip it over. You will see the ribbon attached to the underside of the Acer Aspire 7520G-502G25Mi Keyboard. There is a little plastic connector holding the ribbon to the computer. To unlock it, carefully pull up on the two tabs; one located on each corner of the connector. Be very gentle when you do this as this is the one part that gets broken the most often when changing a keyboard. The ribbon cable will now be released.
Step four: Carefully pull the ribbon out of the connector and remove it along with the entire Acer laptop keyboard.
Final step: To insert the new Acer Aspire 7520G-502G25Mi Keyboard, place the board face down so you have easy access to the ribbon. Make sure the keyboard is lined up so when you flip it back over the keys are in the correct position. Keep the ribbon straight at all times; twisting it could damage it. Place the ribbon in the connector; it only goes in one way. Once in place, push down on the connector tabs to lock it. Now flip the keyboard over and slide it down toward the touch pad and take the bezel and line the pegs up with the holes and push it in place. Then turn the computer over and replace the two screws you removed from the bottom. You can now power on your computer and see if the Acer Aspire 7520G-502G25Mi Keyboard works. If it is not working, more than likely the ribbon was not inserted properly.

The acer l100 does not power on at all no lights or fan running

If the computer is not starting then and the power supply is ok then you need to try a different charger. If the problem still exist this may a sign that the motherboard is dead and need to be replace, because when a motherboard is dead it the computer will not receive any power.
    Thank you

No power when press the button, power plug is good?

Good day sir/ma'am, chances are that your power supply box is the faulty part. But to make sure let us test your power supply box. here are the steps:
    1. PC is off, open the side panels of the CPU, disconnect the 20(or 24) pin molex connector from the motherboard.
    2. Get a piece of jumper wire, about 4 inches and splice the ends.
    3. On the molex connector, locate the green wire, then using the jumper wire, short it with the black wire (there are lots of black wires there).
    4. look at the exhaust fan, at this point it should be spinning (good). if not here are the other possible outcome: (1) the fan did not spin. replace the power supply box with a new one. (2) the fan spins momentarily then stops, this condition only occur once. Its either your power supply has no load (intermittent symptoms), or the switching controller stage part is faulty. Better buy a new one than have a headache. (3) blows a fuse. replace the entire box.
If you have a good power supply, install it on your CPU and test.

    Removing L100 hard drive

Remove the front panel by gently lifting the three flat plastic tabs. Remove one screw at the corner of the disk drive and lift the disk drive and DVD drive upward by the plastic handle on top. Disconnect the two SATA connectors from the disk drive by simply pulling them off. Disconnect the ribbon cable from the DVD drive gently lifting up on the black tab at the ribbon connector. This is hinged and releases the ribbon cable.

The unit is now free and you can turn it over and remove the screws securing the disk drive.
