LG Dishwasher LDS5811ST 1E error code

Hi

I have an LG dishwasher that keeps giving an 1E error code. The code means water inlet trouble and recommends the following.

  • Check clogging of water inlet hose(or hose twist or freezing)
  • Check if it's suspension of water supply
After following the troubleshooting guide and checking to see if the inlet valve is operational. The LG parts supplier said that it may be the control board timer and not the inlet valve.

How do i diagnose if it is the control board and not the inlet valve?
where can I get a diagram to help replace the control board?

Thanks

Carl

Hate the break it to you - but chances are you are dealing with a manufacture built defect and LG won't admit it. I had the same problem and my husband did everything possible. When nothing worked, he took apar the machine (being an electrician and working with motors the man can undo just about any appliance and rebuild it) he noticed a goo that had spilled all over the bottom cover. Apparently it comes from the motor - and this is what causes the error. We called for service - but the warranty had expired by 1 month - labor costs.... $295.00!! That's what you get for overpaying for an LG product.

Get the 1E error every time I start the machine, It takes two tries to start the dishwasher, found a thin slab of rubber in the bottom, don't know where it came from.

LDS5811ST I am getting an E1 reading when it starts to fill with water

I have the same problem. I clears a deposit backup in front of the intake screen. Ran the dishwasher again and continues to receive the same 1E error. I finally flipped the circuit breaker...thinking that may clear the code....ran it again and then could hear the water fill the washer. Everything was fine.....A few days later I went to run again and....THE SAME PROBLEM. I checked the intake screen again and it was clean. Flipped the circuit breaker again, ran the dishwasher, heard the pump turn on....then nothing. The water won't fill and I keep receiving the 1E error code. Any ideas?

I had a LG certified repairman come out and fix. The electrical wires within the door were melted into the "tar" (sound deafening spray) and one wire actualy sheered. Apparently the drying cycle heats the tar and the wires become embeded and melt into the tar. This is what was causing the error code. After the wire was tested and spliced everything worked great. Long term...The door/electrical harness was replaced by LG.

Different model same problem.......took front panel off, all you need is a philips head screwdriver for that part. There were 3 wires damaged and one cut completely in two. Spliced wires back together, applied some shrink tubing and electrical tape to seal it up good. Everything is working fine for now. Took 20 mins and $3 in materials. Dont call a service man, you CAN fix this yourself. Don't forget to unplug it first ;)

When you get an E1 error, the most common problem is the drain hose is not installed with a 30" rise in the hose between the DW and the drain. Best repair is installing an AirGap valve (almost free at any hardware store.) For a quick fix, tie the hose up to the bottom of the counter top.
The problem is a siphon effect is is draining water from the dishwasher as soon as the wash or rinse cycle begins.
Good Luck!

My Error Code 1E problem was that I had a little blockage in my water line. I took the line loose and cleaned it out & it worked fine. A blockage can produce this code too.

Took front panel off and inspected wires found 1 wire broke in two and one wire damaged I believe it melted into the tar that was used for sound deadening I spliced the wires and applied heat shield material on wires put back together and works great

Water fill solenoid is most likely stuck. If cycle timer elapses 2 minutes and then error 1E flashes and alarm tone sounds, power off, power on, select cycle and wait 2 minutes again. If error repeats, power off/on and cycle selct again. You should hear water start to flow if solenoid finally opens.
If this fails, remove base plate cover, tap solenoid with screwdriver handle during first 2 minutes of cycle. Hopefully this will work for you. This does not fix it, but will identify solenoid as the issue.

I have a LG dishwasher that exhibits occasional groaning, 1E error and poor cleaning. Sometime it works fine but lately it's getting more common.

Since you have replaced the water inlet valve and still have the 1E error code, this leads me to believe that your water pressure could be too low.
1E error code means that your machine is not filling with enough water to operate correctly, so check the supply system completely and also the filters where the supply hose enters the machine.
The poor cleaning could be food clogging the lower filter screen, the groaning is the circulation pump cavitating.

WHAT DOES ERROR MESSAGE 1E MEAN AND HOW DO WE FIX IT?

On LG's, a 1E error message usually means there is a problem with the water inlet valve. Check your shutoff valve under the sink, first, just to make sure someone didn't accidentally turn it off. If it's on, then it's most likely the water inlet valve located under the dishwasher.

Model LD 12AW2 not drawing water displaying 1E error

Hi afarugia,

The IE error you are seeing means Inlet Error, this shows because your dishwasher is not getting enough water through in a specific time frame - Please check the following:

- Is the Inlet hose kinked in any way? (This could lead to low water pressure to the solenoid) Straighten it.
- Is the Inlet hose filter (Found when unscrewing the hose form the inlet on the machine) dirty? Clean it.
- Is the tap completely open? (Low pressure)
- Has your home gone under any plumbing alterations? (This could have also caused low water pressure - Too little water)

If all of these come back OK, and it still gives the same problem, I'd suggest replacing the inlet valve (Found on the opposite side of the inlet pipe - inside your Dishwasher), could also be a pressure switch (Found at the bottom of your Dishwasher - accessible from the bottom).

This should solve any problems.

Kind Regards :-)

Hi I have an LG LD - 14AW23 dishwasher. It shows an IE error (no water) but it fills, stops and then gives the error message. What's thye problem? Many thanks, John

Hi

Error code IE on LG dishwasher means Inlet error. This error comes up when the Water Supply Tap is closed or Water Supply is shut off. If water supply is turned on then make sure that the Inlet Hose is not kinked and water Pressure is not low (should be above 10 psi). Next thing to check for is Water Inlet Valve, measure the electric resistance of Inlet Valve. (950-1300 ohms) Make sure the filter of Inlet Valve is not clogged.

Hope this helps... Please post back for further assistance.

I have an error code of 1E on my LG dishwasher what does this mean and how do I fix it?

1E error is Not reached to the normal water level in spite of 10 min. water supply
POSSIBLE CAUSE REMEDY FOR ERROR OCCURRENCE The Water Supply Tap is closed. The Water Supply is shut off. The Inlet Hose is kinked. The Water Pressure is very low. (below 10 psi) Inlet Valve is OK? The filter of Inlet Valve is clogged by impure water. The Hall sensor is OK? The Impeller of Air Guide is bound.
Remedy Take action on Water Supply device. Measure the electric resistance of Inlet Valve. (950-1300 ) Clean the filter of Inlet Valve. Check the frequency of Inlet Water by the Test Mode. Replace the Air Braker.
