Print spooler services is not running - Office Equipment & Supplies

  • Anonymous Dec 08, 2008

    Installed a Deskjet F4280 All In One on my Dell 8600 Laptop to replace my Deskjet 940 whis was operating fine as a Network Printer from the same Dell and HP dv9800us Laptop.

    The Print, Copy and Scan function just fine from the Dell to which t is attached.

    Problem is when printing from the HP via the “Network” printer HPF4280. The HP shows that the printing function was sent to the Network Printer and was Printing. When I go to retrieve it I see the error message that the “Spooler SubSystem Apps encountered a Problem and needs to Close. The printer has been deleted from the “Printer and Fax “ and the “Add Printer” does not function.

    The Printer is back to normal after a reboot.

    I went through the Microsoft Registry “Fix” and that didn’t correct it. It will print the Windows Test page bur not a Word or Notepad documnet

Where i could see the printer spooler?

I open the run command you can type: net start spooler
(You will get a message that says the print spooler service has started)
If you still have issues open the run command and type: services.msc
it will display a list, where you can find print spooler.

From there you can right-click on it and set it so it is started and runs automatically.

Operation could not br completed. The print spooler service is not running

Hi There,

If your print spooler service is not running, then follow the below steps to get it working :

Step 1 :
* Start > run > services.msc > ok
* Select the service name called print spooler from the list.
* Check the status on the print spooler service, if it is stopped, then right click and select start or restart.
* Then the spooler service will start working....

Step 2 : ( NOTE :USE THIS STEP ONLY WHEN YOUR STEP 1 DOESN'T WORK )
In this case, we assume that the print spooler service is gone bad and we would have to recreate the spooler service.

* Start > run > cmd > ok
* Type: sc delete spoolsv (this will delete the corrupted spooler for us to create a new print spooler)
* Reboot the system and after rebooting the computer back.

* Start > run > cmd > ok
* Type: sc create spoolsv (this will create a new print spooler service)
* Reboot the system and this time the print spooler service is a new and fresh spooler and it should work normal and perfectly.

Enjoy printing !!
