Upon turning the monitor on, from either being off or from being in standby, the screen will blink on briefly then turn off and cycle through the same pattern for anywhere from 2 to 10 minutes, after which point it functions normally.

Need to connect hp pavilion vf15 monitor to mac computer

First of all, before you look which one to buy, you need to find out which Video Port does you Mac has, i.e. VGA or DVI or Mini DVI or HDMI. Once it's confirmed, you have to find out the same with your monitor, so that you can buy the appropriate cable.

Pictures Below:
1. VGA

2. DVI

3. Mini DVI

Good Luck.

Monitors will not turn on due to a power spike. Tower makes a beeping noise with a red blinking light. What could be the problem?

The moitors did not turn on at all after the power spike?
If that is the case, probably some electronic components were burned due to power surge damage.
I advise you to contact the manufacturer for repair and your local electricity supplier.
The beeping noise and the red blinking could be indication that no monitor is plugged in.

I have the HP Pavilion dv2890NR Artist Edition. At first the screen went fuzzy with green streams of numbers and letters, it would then go black and if i turned it off and back on again it would work....

Actually, the fact that the laptop is booting and you can hear the Windows sounds is a very good omen.

1. Get access to an external monitor
2. Connect to the monitor, power on the laptop, and hold down the fn key and press the F4 key to transfer the video signal to the external monitor.
3. If the external monitor looks like your normal desktop then you only need to replace the screen and screen inverter.
4. If the external moitor will not display your laptop's signal, it's a more serious problem and would likely demand a new motherboard.

Knowing the outcome of the test will help you choose which action to take. The scrren and inverter replacement should cost about 150 to 175 US if you find someone nice whose not trying to rob you blind. :)

17-inch CRT?

Ask your friends -- one of them probably has a "surplus" 17-inch CRT that they will _love_ to give-away to you, to replace yours.

Or, look on CRAIGS LIST for a used 17" LCD screen, for $30 to $40.
