Question about Kodak EasyShare Z740 Digital Camera

1 Answer

Kodak Z740 digital camera

I have used this camera for a couple years with beautiful pictures. This week I was taking pictures. I turned the camera on. It came on and instantly turned off. I thought the battery died. I have replaced the battery x2 with the same response. My memory card has lots of space including the pictures I took last. It seems like it is stuck in an auto-off position.

Please advise!

When I turn my camera on (green camera sign), the screen comes on and the lense comes out then it goes back in and the screen shuts off. All in about 5 seconds. It works fine when im in the review mode. Ive tried 4 sets of new batteries and charged the rechargeable ones that came with it, but it does the same thing each time. It worked fine the last time I used it. It wasnt dropped and it hasnt gotten wet. It does the same with or with out the memery card in it. PLEASE HELP.

TIPS:
1.)NEVER PUSH THE LENS IN AFTER CAMERA DIES, BUY A NEW BATTERY IMMEDIATLY AND TURN IT BACK ON, CLOSING THE LENS!

2.)NEVER USE AN AC ADAPTER, USE A RECHARGEABLE BATTERY OR A REGULAR BATTERY!

..to fix this...

Do as i say..

1.) Remove battery
2.) Remove front plate (screw driver may be needed)
3.) Check all gears, make sure they are correctly fitted in place)
4.) Move the gear manually to make the lens come out.
5.) keep it out, put the front plate back together.
6.) reinsert the battery, turn it on.

or...
1.) Remove the battery.
2.) Wait about 6-8 hours.
3.) Reinsert the battery.

or...
1.) Remove the battery.
2.) Try hooking it up through AC adapter, put correct voltage.
3.) Try turning it on.
4.) Remove AC adapter, reinsert battery.
5.) Turn it on.
If nothing happens just tell me..

Hope this may help;

My aperture or lens isn't opening - can't take a picture. It worked fine a couple of weeks ago and when I tried to use it this week it was a no go.

Aperture and lens are two different things. If you mean the camera is taking black pictures (something common for the S5), then see this link.

But if you mean that the lens isn't extending properly, then see this video:

Check Canon's service notice regarding this issue. If they determine that this is your problem (it sounds like it is), they will repair your camera at no cost, regardless of warranty status.

If the rest of the camera, the menus are okay, then you have a ccd problem. Canon will fix this for free and pay shipping both ways in the USA.

i suggest pointing the camera to an image which has more contrast as opposed to pointing it into a clear blue sky which has no clouds at all. the AF might have some trouble looking for cue to focus. go manual focusing and see the difference.
