When a running belt has excessive wear, it creates a lot of friction which causes the drive motor to work harder. When the drive motor works harder it will start overheating. If the belt is not lubricated periodically, it will ruin the deck, the drive motor, and cause other electrical problems such as tripping the breaker [after a while, the circuit breaker on the treadmill will need to be replaced.
It is suggested to lubricate the belt every month. At this point, you may need to replace both your deck and your running belt.

Unplug unit remove the motor shroud depending on your manufacturer its either on the frame by the front roller/ pulley or is attached on to the driver motor. On the lower electronics when you turn on the treadmill you should see LED and is labeled speed crtl if you push the running belt with your foot that LED should flicker if does not then the speed sensor is bad.

The deck needs to be lubricated. The lubricant can be purchase @ gympart.com. LUBRICATION PROCEDURE: 1. Turn off and unplug treadmill. 2. Cut off the end of the tube of lubricant. 3. Holding the tube in one hand, insert the tube underneath the treadbelt halfway between front and back and halfway between right and left. 4. Squeeze the full contents of the tube onto the deck in a circular pattern in the center 1/3 of the deck. 5. Plug in and turn on treadmill, then walk normally on treadmill at 0.5 mph for five minutes

Better check the harness where it runs up the supports. Some of these had the harness mis-routed and screws were able to damage the wires and create shorts.
