Hello,

Your unit being stuck in standby mode is an indication that its having a power problem. Remove its plug from the wall and fix it back into the wall, then turn it on again. If its still stuck in safe mode, then the power supply board in the unit is the cause of the problem.

The power supply board might be defective and maybe that's why the unit won't power up. Its receiving power but it cannot transfer the current to the necessary part of the unit because a capacitor, diode, etc may have been faulty. Until these bad components are replaced, the unit might not come on.

To actually find out what's wrong, you need to disassemble the unit with a screw driver and check what's wrong. You will be needing a meter in order to test the components on the power board, once you detect any bad component, you can make necessary replacement at any electronics accessories store withing our vicinity. This is the only way by which you can detect the problem.

Of course, testing the power board with a meter will require someone that has the ability. So it you can't, then you might be needing the help of a repairman or you can call a friend that has the ability to help you out.

I wish you the best of luck.

I have a 55" Panasonic flat screen that won't turn

Try disconnecting all of your HDMI cables and plugging the power cord of the TV into another wall outlet. If this resolves the issue, you may have had a small power surge from either your wall outlet or one of your source devices. It is recommended to connect your TV to a surge protector if you haven't done so already.

My LG GC900f's camera suddenly won't work. I last used the camera three days ago and it was great, but when I tried it earlier, it just won't open. Even the apps that need the camera, won&

Don't take it to any normal technician. Go to Authorized service of LG and get it done. It is not any software issue, i think it is hardware problem.

Philips DCB146 NO SOUND!!

The answer is straightforward. The main power amp has gone. If you are lucky it's a single IC unit which you will find on a big heat sink. It might look like the one shown below.
You will of course need to de-solder it and resolder a new one. The type needed to replace it will be shown by the letters and number on the IC itself.

TV WON'T POWER ON

The problem is in the power supply board, bad solder joints, or one or two failing capacitors, common issues.

I've a power supply shortcut on my TV AV21BT7EPB; it happened suddenly. I open the TV to find out where this short cut is coming from. I found where the power supply cord is plugged in. Close to this...

A cable around a CRT is actually a Degauss coil, and it is controlled by a smallish component (three terminal) on the main board called a PTC (Positive Temperature Co-efficient resistor).
This is usually located very close to to where the coil is plugged into the board.

Upon switch on, the PTC allows a large current flow (thus almost a short circuit) for a fraction of a second through the degauss coil, and in doing so, it's temperature increases dramatically, and thus also it's internal resistance. When the device is hot, almost zero current flows through the coil.
Because the PTC operates for only a fraction of a second, the protective fuse does not operate.

When these PTCs fail, some fail in the 'cold' or almost short circuit mode, and you get the symptoms you describe.

You can either replace the PTC, or even remove it completely. However, if you remove itfrom the circuit, stray magnetic fields (like from speaker magnets or from a passing vacuum cleaner) will cause the screen to become partially magnetized, and cause colour blotches on the screen.
