Is it a wired or wireless connection? Go into control panel, network connections and make sure the local area connection is enabled. You could try right clicking on it and going to repair.

When you set up your router you probably assigned and administrators password to restrict access to the routers admin pages. When enabling wireless security a security key would have been assigned to authenticate clients attempting to attach to the router. It is the security key that the Ipod needs to access the router. To verify what the security key is login to the routers admin pages and check it.

I need help connecting to the router

you just bought the new computer. I belive it must be having the wireless card. Go to the control panel and go to network connections. If you see wireless network conenction in the network connectin then you don't need to buy anything.
Is your router already set up and other computers are online using the router ?
in that case you don't need to run the CD. you just need to connect to the network ?

My two laptops were connected to my belkin ni router all of a sudden disconnect and refuse to connect back

1.you should turn off the router and computer. 2.turn off the modem. 3.disconenct all of the cables. 4. connect all of the cables back. 5. restart the modem, router, computer. if you are able to connect, it is fine. otherwise try to connect the laptop directly to the modem and bypass the router and check if able to go online.

Trouble with paradyne or linksys

Just saw your post, so please accept my apologies for being almost a month late in responding, as I only joined this service on March 26th.

1. When a modem has both usb and ethernet, only ONE of the two should be used as most isp modems will allow one or the other.

2. Your Vonage should be discreet and not intermingled with the rest of your system. It would be better to connect the Vonage to a router, and not the router to the Vonage. iow, do not connect the Vonage modem between the isp's modem and your router.

3. denigration of service or slowdown is typical with VOIP if more than 2 systems whether telephone or other systems are connected, due to the ringer voltage splitting that occurs when you put more units on the Vonage, or any other Voip modem. One ISP solves this by providing separate outputs for Voip and Ethernet.

Observation of these rules should speed up your system.

Where does the cable from the wall jack come from? A switch that is connected to the Internet?

For the Internet to work with router, you need to have a modem that is connected to Internet already, meaning ISP knows about the router via MAC address, and from the modem use an ethernet cable to connect router port called "Internet" or "WAN". then from an open port in back of router another ethernet cable to your NIC in back of computer.

Need help in connecting to the internet using Dlink 704p router.....

it doesn't matter whether the other computer is set to static and the other one is set to dynamic as long as both computers are getting/using valid ip addresses.
if i got it right. 1 computer is connected to the LAN port of the router and the other computer is connected to the WAN port. if so, you need to connect both computer to the LAN ports and the WAN port of the router should be connected to the modem that you are using.
if the physical connection is correct, check how you are connecting to the internet through the modem. if you can access the internet from the modem without configuring anything, you just need to power cycle. turn off everything then turn on the modem first, wait for the lights on the modem to turn on properly before turning on the router then turn on the computers.
hope this'll help you but if not, just provide the following:
(1)ISP:
(2)brand/model of the modem:
so i can help you further.
