Question about Microsoft Xbox 360 Console

1 Answer

My xbox will not work with my hard drive.

When I put my hard drive into my xbox it gets a one red ring in the bottom left-hand corner and would not go to the dash board. However when my brother puts his in it works. Is my hard drive broken? If so can I save my files off of it?

One light flashing means hardware failure. Your hard drive is probably dead and sorry to say you can't recover the files.

Seriously, one in three dies under warranty. Call microsoft and complain, they will be good to you. They might even let you keep your old hard drive.

I got one red light in the bottom corner and an error message with e74 i checked the guide for wat it was related to and it said it was my hard drive but i unplugged my hard drive and the problem is still...

  • here is info on the red ring of death that i know about and the solutions
  • 1 red light means the e74 error
  • 2 red lights means the xbox is overheating and was shutted down automatically
  • 3 red lights means hardrive error
  • 4 red lights means that something is unpluged
the problem is not in the hardrive itself, but its that the hardware scaler chip is damaged. now, microsoft is giving a full refund to people owning units with this error or so i hear. so you can rebuy a new unit payed by microsoft and your problem is solved

Xbox flashing green and red

7 - kernel

This is a hard drive error. Your hard drive has died you can either replace the motherboard and hard drive as a pair or go through multiple steps with a modchip to allow you to create a new drive or lock a previously unlocked xbox drive to the password your motherboard has.
