Do not try to repair this game with any machine, playstation 3 games are made scratch resistant and all the memory for the game is at the bottom of the game so there for if you buff it you break it..

Hey Hushmail25,

I think not. Its not a laser problem but a disk problem otherwise it wouldn't even start reading at all. See what i mean. Its the game bro and if you still have a receipt of some sort or you go to back to the place you got it from you should have no problem getting another copy of the game. Just explain to them that the game is defective. You can take that to the bank. Le me know how that turns out buddy.

Is your disk scratched? If the laser was damaged or dirty it probably wouldn't read the disk at all. If your disk is too scratched to play you can buy a tool that will buff out the scratches at a place like Best Buy.

When i put a disc in the disc icon doesnt show up and i have already tried cleaning it but that didnt work how do i fix it?

The Playstation 3 is a wonderful video game console, however, with heavy usage, the laser does eventually burn out. The first signs of the laser starting to burn out is that your game will start freezing during game play. Eventually the game will stop reading altogether (even though movies sometimes still work). Eventually movies will stop working and the whole laser will eventually die.

The following website sells PS3 lasers and also performs repairs:

My playstation 3 just stopped reading disks out the blue it reads nothing dvd cd games nothing

Hello
It sounds like your Laser needs cleaning, try using a laser cleaning disc available from all good supermarkets.
This should solve your problem.
Thanks

Ps2 doesnt read disc

You can clean the laser, although that isn't necessarily the problem. You can pick up a laser cleaning disk at any retail electronics store, such as Best Buy, RadioShack, and sometimes even Walmart. You can also open your Playstation 2 and use a Q-tip and rubbing alchohol to clean the laser. The problem is likely though that when you first loaded FIFA the data was corrupted on your memory card. Try deleting any FIFA data off of your card and then starting the game.

Playstation 3 will not read disc , can i clean lens myself? not under warranty. just stopped reading the disc's

You can clean the lens but it almost never fixes the problem.

The problem is usually the blu-ray laser itself. It needs to be replaced.

Disc not reading

If you're getting a Disc Read Error (DRE), it could be one or both of these things.

Your laser lens is dirty or broken and needs to be cleaned or replaced, or your disc tray is faulty and needs to be serviced.

Try cleaning the lens and see if it will read. If you can hear the disc spin in the PS3, then your disc tray is fine.

Doesnt read any disc

sounds like either a dirty laser or a low powered laser, laser cleaning discs tend to be **** once the laser has stopped reading, if you are confident in stripping it , locate the laser and twist a cotton bud into it,this is the best way of cleaning, do not use any cleaning fluid as this can damage it.

Playstation 3 - discs not reading

If the warranty is still intact, Sony can fix it. If not, open the ps3, open the blu-ray drive and clean the laser. If that doesnt work, replace the laser.

I would be careful about cleaning your lens because Sony has been known to void any warranty you have when cleaning because of not using "sony products". I to have the same problem but mine came up disc read error only after a month and i cant play anything either? even thoguh I dont have a solution I just offer a warning about cleaning it.
