Bob, thanks for the suggestions, but we ended up going with the repair department at Algonquin College here in Ottawa. They are registered Toshiba repair outlet and they did a great job.

Hi!

The only "elite" service center in Ottawa is as follows:

ON Ottawa where in Ottawa, Ontario can - elite.gifMetafore 110 - 1545 Carling Avenue K1Z 8P9 613-727-5666

There are other service centers listed on the Toshiba, Canada site. Is a little difficult to get to, but this link should work:

http://209.167.114.38/support//Services/ServiceCenterLocatornew.asp?search=menu

If not, go here and follow the prompts:

http://www.toshiba.ca/support/Services/ServiceCenterLocator.asp

Please let me know if this worked! Good luck!

Bob

Toshiba Satellite L305-S5875; Recovery Error 10-fc12-045d HELP!!

no it is not fried. you just need to find a vista disk and use that instead of the recovery disks. Once you reinstall Vista you should be able to go online for the Toshiba drivers. Make sure you have the windows Vista Key which should be located under the laptop. the vista software install will ask for it.

Power pack beeping, no lights turning on

Unfortunately your laptop is suffering from hardware failure. You may try removing the battery and using only the power cord.If this solves the problem then you either have a defective battery or bad power circuitry on your laptop. Aside from that if its still under warranty sending it to Toshiba for repairs will be your safest and cheapest option.

How do i change the RAM on a toshiba portege M400 laptop?

The memory modules on Toshiba laptops are usually located at the back or under the keyboard depending the model.
If your laptop is still under warranty DO NOT open the case. This is only for people who are experienced with computers.

I bought my laptop in march in July it just quit working sent it back to Toshiba I have the warranty. they tell me it will be fixed and back to me in 7-10 days 23 days later I get a call from Toshiba...

Personally, I wouldn't pay them 425.00 to fix 'damage' that you KNOW did not occur. Call them back and tell them that their assessment is incorrect and you expect them to honor their warranty and fix your laptop and get it back to you pronto. If not, you will contact the Better Business Bureau as well as the Attorney General for your state. If that doesn't get you anywhere, tell them to send it back to you without repairing it. Now, tell me what happened when it just quit working. It's possible we may be able to help you.

Acer 3000 when I am using word and need to type using the keys that have numbers as a Fn function the laptop only displays the fn numbers. If I use a usb keyboard it responds normally. I cannot disable...

usually this means you are having a critical keyboard error. if its still under warentee then take it back but if not then just look for another keyboard for that model on ebay.
should be able to get one for no more than £20.00

The socket where you plug the charger into the laptop is loose and now will not charge. where can i send it to be fixed and how much will it cost? I am in Niagara falls, ONtario

Hi
This is typically caused by tension on the plug. For instance, you allow the charger to dangle and hang on the plug. This causes poor contact and the socket gets hot and melts.
If you go to the manufacturers they will charge you for a new mainboard. Your best bet is to take it into a local TV/Hi-Fi repair shop and get a quote.

Hi,recently i perchuased a Toshiba laptop model p250-S6287 when i ues it the fan dont stop and work continuously so i must restart it ,after that it works normally.thank you

That can be an electrical problem. I would talk to the manufacturer about this problem. I would do it ASAP because any type of short or continuing electrical current can be bad for the computer. Even ruin it. If they can't help and you are still under warranty you might want to replace the computer. With a new one.

Good Luck!

Wat is toshiba flash card

"FLASH" generally denotes a compact storage device called
Compact Flash Card. I have an old digital camera that takes compact flash cards.

Newer Toshiba Laptops and Towers have multi card readers installed, my laptop has a SD card reader under my PCMCIA card slot. I also had a (Made for Toshiba) compact flash adapter. That device was nice because it wasn't "Card Bus" it used 8-16 bit technology making it easy to transfer data from a laptop running windows 3.1 to a laptop running Vista
