Evo N610c Laptop. I get an attempt to start and an immediate shutdown every
3 to 4 seconds. I successfully replaced the hard drive and all worked well
until I started to troubleshoot a battert issue. The HP web site indicated I needed to update my BIOS, which I did. After completing the download, my laptop went for a restart and shutdown 3 to 5 seconds later. Now All I
get is a constant attempt to start and then shutdown. No image on the screen and no keyboard stroke is effective. HELP !!!!!!

This error message could be caused by the laptop not detecting the hard drive. Check the BIOS to see if it detects the hard disk If not the hard disk may be faulty or needs reseating. If the hard disk is faulty it needs to be replaced and Windows installed on the new hard disk. A virus program may have infected the computer and removed or changed some system files - in this case Windows needs to be repaired OR Windows re-installed - this is the best option.
Whining usually comes from the hard drive and indicates that it's beginning to fail. Locate the hard drive in your machine, hit the power button, then listen to see if the sound is coming from the hard drive area, if so, then the hard drive is beginning to fail. As far as it failing, it may go the next time you turn it on or it my last for months, hard drives a funny that way.
This can be due to several reasons 1)The charger is dead-> Try a different charger 2)The dc powerjack on the laptop is burnt(you have to take it part and check it... 3)Last but not least it could be a battery problem..you have to get a new battery..
